The Xbox brand just received its latest console-exclusive game in the form of Call of the Sea, a first-person puzzle game where players take on the role of Norah, who is searching a mysterious island for signs of her missing husband. While players are exploring the island and looking for clues as to Norah's husband's disappearance, they may be wondering exactly how long the experience will last.

According to early Call of the Sea reviews, those playing the game can expect their playthrough to last roughly five hours or so. The game consists of six main chapters and a prologue, though each chapter is fairly large. Call of the Sea playtimes will vary depending on how long it takes players to figure out and complete the game's puzzles, so someone that's following a guide may be able to breeze through at an even faster rate.

Once Call of the Sea players have finished the main story, they may want to go back through the game to clean up any achievements they may have missed during their initial playthrough. Call of the Sea has a chapter select option so players can jump back in to any chapter they've already completed and look for any collectibles that they still need to grab.

While the short playtime may turn players off, it should be noted that Call of the Sea is accessible without a big financial commitment. Call of the Sea is available to play through Xbox Game Pass, with subscribers able to access it through multiple avenues. Any Xbox Game Pass subscribers on PC, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X can play the game, plus it's also available to play on Android mobile devices through Microsoft's xCloud streaming service.

Call of the Sea's status as a Game Pass game means that it will be easier to forgive its short playtime. While the short playtime has been criticized, most other Call of the Sea reviews have had positive things to say about the game, particularly in regards to its art style and Lovecraft-inspired story. So fans of puzzle games should definitely consider giving Call of the Sea a look, especially if they are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass.

Meanwhile, there many other Xbox Game Pass games on the horizon that fans should keep an eye out for. While Call of the Sea is the big one for December, January will see the launch of Bloober Team's The Medium on Game Pass, plus Halo Infinite is coming at some point in 2021 as well.

Call of the Sea is out now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
