The Call of Duty Zombies fan base has proven how passionate it is on several occasions over the years, with replicas and fan art being shared often. Now, one Call of Duty Zombies fan has shown off their permanent tribute to the series, as they have gotten a Samantha Maxis tattoo on their arm.

For those that are only familiar with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies, the tattoo likely looks nothing like Sam. However, she has not always been the determined adult that she is in the Dark Aether story. In every Treyarch Zombies mode prior to its latest iteration, Samantha was a demonic little girl, with Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Black Ops positioning her as the leader of the undead. That is the exact look that Redditor biggersammy was able to replicate with their new tattoo.

During the Moon easter egg from the first Black Ops game, which is widely regarded as one of the bests main quests in Call of Duty Zombies, players get a clear glimpse at Samantha. Before Richtofen swaps bodies with her and takes control of the undead, the young Maxis is shown floating in the MPD. Alongside her black hair, she is wearing a unique dress that is fitting of the era when she was born and raised. She is also seen holding a teddy bear, something that is captured in biggersammy’s tattoo.

Teddy bears have played a big role in Zombies, and they are tied deeply to the character of Samantha. The first time that players ever interact with her is in Der Riese, and it sees them shooting teddy bears as a game of hide and seek. Outside of their role in the Fly Trap easter egg, finding three bears has been a common method to activating a map’s easter egg song. The bear from the tattoo seems to be wearing an astronaut helmet, with the fan adding another nod to Moon.

While the black, silhouette-like tattoo would have been cool enough on its own, Samantha is holding something else that makes it even better. Sam can be seen with a Wunderwaffe DG-2 over her shoulder, which is one of the most recognizable Wonder Weapons in Zombies history. Made by her nemesis Dr. Edward Richtofen, the gun shoots lightning bolts that will chain between enemies. While it can take out a train of zombies and is deadly in anyone’s hands, seeing it in Sam’s hands is particularly scary.

With only Samantha Maxis and Edward Richtofen escaping the Aether universe, Sam is one of the only Zombies characters that is still active in the new story. As this tattoo shows, she has quite the history, and many Call of Duty Zombies fans are surely happy that she is still around.
