Call of Duty Zombies has been an ever-evolving mode of the Call of Duty franchise since first being introduced with Call of Duty: World at War in 2008. Call of Duty: Vanguard's new Zombie features look to change up the gameplay in exciting new ways, but there are plenty of fans who enjoy the classic gameplay as well. Map design from the earlier Call of Duty Zombies titles, such as World at War and Black Ops, is part of what makes them memorable. Over the years some fans have taken to recreate classic Zombies maps, and one fan did just that in Fortnite.
Fortnite Creative allows fans of the game to make anything from a new map, to game mode ideas, to even a cyberpunk city inside of Fortnite. The mode was initially released in December of 2018. The creativity is endless, and this is on display with a recent creation shared on the r/CODZombies subreddit.
Redditor u/mist_jawaYT recently posted a video on Reddit sharing their work-in-progress creation of Call of Duty Zombies within Fortnite Creative. At first glance, the video appears to simply show a recreation of some of the best Call of Duty Zombies maps within the popular third-person shooter. However, the Fortnite creator is making a working zombies mode based on the Call of Duty game within Fortnite Creative, and it looks quite remarkable.
As the video continues, not only is it clear that a map like Nacht der Untoten is made real again inside Fortnite, but mainstay gameplay mechanics from Call of Duty Zombies are a part of the project such as the Mystery Box, wall buys, Perk-A-Colas, and more. In the comments, u/mist_jawaYT says that the final creation will have rounds, zombies, all the makings of the full Call of Duty Zombie entertainment, and even easter eggs.
In total, the plan is to have the maps Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa, The Giant, Der Eisendrache, Kino der Toten, Rust zombies, and Shadows of Evil all ready in December within Fortnite Creative. Although the plans seem ambitious, the video shows that the project is coming along very nicely. Call of Duty Zombies is good for some nice Halloween enjoyment, but perhaps this Fortnite Creative Call of Duty Zombie creation will be a nice Christmas surprise. There should certainly be a delight to be had with Zombies in Call of Duty: Vanguard as well, but it is nice to see the classic Zombies action being kept alive via the fans.
