Activision and Sledgehammer Games released the first official trailer for Call of Duty: WW2 today, along with a handful of details about the upcoming World War II shooter, including the release date. According to the companies, Call of Duty: WW2 will launch on November 3, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The announcement is a confirmation of the leaked release date that was kicking around online a few days ago. Today’s announcement added a few details about Call of Duty: WW2's single player campaign story that were revealed in last week's leak. We now know that gamers will take on the roll of Private Daniels, who's a part of the US 1st Infantry Division as they make their way through the European theater of World War II. Missions will include the famous D-Day invasion of Normandy, and the epic Battle of the Bulge.

Naturally, the crew at Sledgehammer Games will include a bit of flare to the Call of Duty title. Along with playing as Private Daniels, players will also experience a mission as a woman fighting in the French resistance. While details on the campaign are still scarce, it’s nice to know players will get a large swath of experiences from World War II.

No new details were provided about the Call of Duty: WW2 co-op mode, besides an additional confirmation that the co-op will include a “new and original story.” With six months left until release, there’s still plenty of time for Activision and Sledgehammer Games to share details about the new game mode.

In terms of the online multiplayer, once again details are being held close to the vest for right now. A full multiplayer reveal is set for this year’s E3, where gamers will undoubtedly get a look at the characters, maps, weapons, and game modes set for Call of Duty: WW2.

Activision also confirmed the impending private beta for all those who pre-order Call of Duty: WW2, but didn’t provide a date for the beta. Considering historical timelines for betas, gamers can expect the private beta (likely followed by an open beta) to take place sometime in September or October.

Finally, a last detail shared today is that Josh Duhamel is confirmed to be a character in Call of Duty: WW2. Based on the trailer, it looks like Duhamel will be Private Daniels’ infantry leader.

More details for Call of Duty: WW2 will be coming over the course of the day. So, stay tuned with Game Rant for the latest on the next installment of Call of Duty.
