Activision has formally launched preloading for Call of Duty: WW2's upcoming multiplayer open beta on PC, allowing players to download the beta now in order to be ready. Players can start playing Call of Duty: WW2's open beta on September 29, so there's a bit more than three days left to get those 25GB downloads going.

The Call of Duty: WW2 multiplayer open beta on PC will last just one weekend, starting September 29 and ending on Monday, October 2. With the first-person shooter's full launch arriving on November 3, one weekend should be plenty of time for Call of Duty fans to see if the game is what they're looking for. While the beta is multiplayer only, with no single-player campaign content, there should be enough maps and modes available to fill a whole weekend. Activision notes that it is focused on stress testing the servers, so the content will focus on "fast-paced, grounded" action.

Confirmed game modes include Team Death Match, Domination, Hardpoint, and Kill Confirmed. Available maps include Pointe du Hoc, Gibralter, and Aachen. Other options, like the highly anticipated War mode on the Operation Breakpoint map, will also be available. Progression caps at level 35 with all five divisions being free to pick and play, so players can switch around as they please.

To help PC players judge whether to download Call of Duty: WW2's multiplayer open beta or not, Activision has also supplied the PC minimum requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-Bit or later
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i3 3225 or equivalent
  • RAM: 8 GB RAM
  • HDD: 25 GB HD space
  • Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660 @ 2 GB / GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 @ 2GB
  • DirectX: Version 11.0 compatible video card or equivalent
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Recommended specs aren't too much higher than required since the minimums are already set rather high:

  • OS: Windows 10
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-2400 / AMD Ryzen R5 1600X
  • RAM: 12 GB RAM
  • HDD: 25 GB HD space
  • Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970 / GTX 1060 @ 6GB or AMD Radeon™ R9 390 / AMD RX 580
  • DirectX: Version 11.0 compatible video card or equivalent
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Even with these recommended settings, not all PC technical or gameplay features will be available in the open beta, however. Many are still in-development and will only be included in the full game. That includes HDR support, multi-monitor support, and in-game features including Headquarters, Supply Drops, and Loot.

Note that these are not the final PC recommended or minimum requirements, as Sledgehammer Games plans on parsing all of the beta's technical data and player feedback, making adjustments where necessary. Other goals for the PC open beta include creating a balance profile for future PC-only changes. To that effect, there will be no aim-assist enabled in the PC beta.

Stay tuned for more information on further changes after the beta concludes. But for now, get that pre-load going so you can enjoy the beta at launch on September 29.
