Through the console betas of Call of Duty: WW2, developer Sledgehammer Games has already picked up some valuable information about the game, with one of the potential tweaks before the game launches in November being a nerf to shotgun incendiary shells. Now, the developer has announced the dates of the PC multiplayer beta, which will no doubt provide further vital data.

Sledgehammer Games confirmed the dates of the PC beta for Call of Duty: WW2 over on its website, and PC players do not have long to wait to get into the beta for the highly anticipated title. According to the developer, the open multiplayer beta will start on September 29, 2017 and will continue through to October 2, 2017.

The studio also discussed exactly what it was looking for from the PC open beta. One goal of the beta is an attempt to "stress test core gameplay systems and online backend infrastructure at scale," as well as giving PC players a look at the multiplayer sections of Call of Duty: WW2. Finally, Sledgehammer Games aims to make sure that the PC gaming experience is "fine-tuned" ready for the full retail release of the game.

Call of Duty: WW2 Incendiary Rounds

The previous beta tests held for Call of Duty: WW2 have certainly given Sledgehammer Games plenty to think about, and the numerous tweaks to the betas themselves have suggested that the developer is aiming to get as good an idea about how the game functions as possible, as shown by the increased beta level cap. However, PC balancing in particular can be difficult, particularly with cross-platform releases, and so the PC test could prove vital for the studio.

This is particularly true given how much seems to be riding on the success of Call of Duty: WW2. The game marks a return to the roots of the franchise, and with Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg suggesting that Call of Duty could return to historical settings in future a success for this year's entry would at least give the company a plan going forward for other releases.

Here are the minimum specs for the PC beta:
