Nielsen Media Research has published its annual Nielsen Game Rank survey, which reveals the most anticipated video game releases for holiday 2017. As is typical, Activision's Call of Duty series is on track to maintain its holiday sales dominance, with Call of Duty: WW2 named the most anticipated multi-platform game of the season.

Call of Duty: WW2 being the most anticipated game of holiday 2017 should come as no surprise. After all, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare tied with Battlefield 1 as the most anticipated game last year, and the year before that, Black Ops 3 beat out the mega popular Fallout 4 for the honor.

Three other multi-platform games were named by Nielsen Game Rank, with Assassin's Creed Origins right behind Call of Duty: WW2 in terms of popularity. Star Wars Battlefront 2 and WWE 2K18 round out the list for most anticipated multi-platform video games this holiday season.

Besides multi-platform games, the Nielsen Game Rank report also offers some details on console exclusive games. As it turns out, Forza Motorsport 7 and Gran Turismo Sport are the most anticipated games on Xbox One and PS4 respectively, with Super Mario Odyssey named the most anticipated (and really the only major) upcoming Nintendo Switch release.

PC gamers, meanwhile, seem more interested in remakes and remasters than anything new. Age of Empires: Definitive Edition was named the most anticipated PC title releasing this holiday season, followed by Fallout 4 VR and L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files. As for the Nintendo 3DS, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon earned the top spot, with Mario games like Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions and Mario Party: The Top 100 following closely behind.

Overall, gamers shouldn't be surprised by Nielsen's data, as Call of Duty games have dominated the polls for years. Not only that, but Call of Duty titles are typically named the top-selling video games every year as well, and considering the hype behind Call of Duty: WW2's return to a World War 2 setting, 2017 shouldn't be any different.

Call of Duty: WW2 will launch on November 3rd for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
