Just a couple of days ago, Nielsen Media Research released its survey data in order to determine the most anticipated video games for holiday 2017, with Call of Duty: WW2 officially earning the top spot on the global information, data, and measurement company's list. With this being the case, it's highly likely that Activision and Sledgehammer Games' recent release of an image revealing a new map called London Docks will further excite fans of the title.
As seen in the tweet below from the official Sledgehammer Games Twitter account, fans can get a closer look at Call of Duty: WW2's London Docks map – which is set during the Second World War's London Blitz – as it features a couple of buses, as well as a cafe and pub combination that also doubles as an air raid shelter. The whole map appears to be built around a wharf that seems to have been hit by a recent bomb raid.
In addition to the Call of Duty: WW2 developer's reveal of the London Docks map, Sledgehammer Games also shared a second image that shows off underground tunnels and a player holding an old football. As it so happens, the studio's co-founder, Michael Condrey, explained that this picture depicts off Gridiron, which is a boots-on-the-ground iteration of the popular Call of Duty multiplayer mode known as Uplink.
For those unaware, Call of Duty: WW2's Gridiron mode surfaced online thanks to some fans' decision to datamine the files for the first-person shooter's recent PC beta, as they scoured for as many details as possible about what will end up in the final version of the game. Interestingly enough, Condrey responded to the leak, and even went so far as to proclaim that some of the information from the data dump was real – Gridiron included.
Taking all of this into account, it will be interesting to see exactly what all is going to officially be incorporated into Call of Duty: WW2 at launch, especially since fans just recently uncovered some information about microtransactions and loot crates in the game's Zombies mode. Considering the gaming community's general distaste for such features, it's a safe bet to make that many would be unhappy to learn of their eventual inclusion in the title.
Call of Duty: WW2 is set to launch on November 3, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
