On December 8, Sledgehammer Games launched the special Winter Siege multiplayer event in Call of Duty: WW2. The Winter Siege brings with it a winter variant of the Carentan map, double XP playlists, the return of Gun Game beginning December 15, and five new weapons for players to add to their arsenal. However, some players have been a bit confused as to how to unlock the new weapons during the Winter Siege.

From December 8 to January 2, Call of Duty: WW2 players will have the chance to unlock three new guns and two new melee weapons. The guns include the Gewehr 43, the Stem SMG, and the GPMG. The melee weapons are an ice pick and a trench knife, both of which make suitable replacements for anyone sick of beating enemies to death with a shovel.

There are three different ways players can obtain the new Winter Siege weapons. The most straightforward way is to complete the special daily contracts tied to each weapon. Each day, players can grab a new daily contract from Major Howard at the Headquarters social space that, if completed, will earn them one of the new weapons. So far, the daily contracts for the guns have all been the same, requiring players to complete 50 multiplayer matches. The contracts for the melee weapons have been a bit easier, requiring players complete only 35 multiplayer matches to unlock them.

Another way players can get their hands on the new Winter Siege weapons is by purchasing them using armory credits. Players can earn armory credits in a number of ways, like completing daily contracts, logging in every day, and just generally playing the game. The third and final way players can unlock the new Winter Siege weapons is by getting lucky and having them appear in winter supply drops.

Any Call of Duty: WW2 player wanting to add these new weapons to their collection will want to act fast. These weapons will only be available until January 2, so fans will want to make sure they are playing the game as much as possible to unlock all five of them. Besides the weapons, though, there are Winter Siege-exclusive cosmetic items that are also available for a limited time, perhaps as a way to convince some players to purchase loot boxes with real world money.

While some players may be more tempted to buy loot boxes during the Winter Siege event, others will be content grinding through the contracts to obtain the new weapons. Either way, fans will want to make sure they participate in the Winter Siege event as much as possible if they hope to unlock everything they want before the event concludes on January 2.

Call of Duty: WW2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
