Yesterday was a big day for Call of Duty fans, with Call of Duty: WW2 being officially confirmed by Activision. The date was set for a big reveal, with a livestream taking place on Wednesday, April 26, but gamers have already been able to learn several details about the game courtesy of some rather unfortunate leaks. Some of this information comes courtesy of a leaked advertisement, which shared some descriptions of the game's campaign and multiplayer.

Already, this advertisement has been shared online with fans of the franchise looking forward to learning more about Call of Duty: WW2. For starters, the game's release date appears to be set for November 3, 2017, but the real meat of the leak stems from what it gives away about the game's actual content. For starters, it promises that it "redefines World War 2 for a new gaming generation" - although perhaps gamers will prefer the more solid reveal that the Normandy D-Day landings will be making a return.

When it comes to the campaign itself, Call of Duty: WW2 will apparently tell "the story of an unbreakable brother of common men fighting to preserve freedom in a world on the brink of tyranny." According to the leak, it will consist of a "gritty intense journey," although that's perhaps to be expected of a Call of Duty title by now, as well as the claim for "blockbuster cinematic authenticity."

The advertisement also shares a little about the game's multiplayer, so gamers should expect to be able to play multiplayer maps based on many of the most well-known locations of World War 2 battles. Intriguingly, it also states that Call of Duty: WW2 will offer up "exciting new ways to interact and socialize with their friends and the Call of Duty community." Meanwhile, those interested in getting hold of the game early should note that a private beta will be available for pre-order customers.

Rumors surrounding the next Call of Duty game have been rumbling for some time, and so fans will be relieved to finally find out more about the game. With developer Sledgehammer Games promising that it will be its biggest game to date, here's hoping that Call of Duty: WW2 will be able to deliver an end product that gamers will be happy with.

Call of Duty: WW2 has a leaked release date of November 3, 2017, with a reveal livestream set for April 26, 2017.
