Going into E3 2017, many gamers were expecting an update on the upcoming title Call of Duty: WW2, which is set to return the Call of Duty franchise to its original setting. Thankfully, fans of the series did receive some additional content in the form of a new Call of Duty: WW2 gameplay trailer that depicted the horrors of war. Now, those interested in playing the game themselves also have some private beta dates to mark in their diary.

As it turns out, however, the Call of Duty: WW2 private beta will have separate dates for PS4 users and those on Xbox One. As a PlayStation exclusive, PS4 users will have access to the beta one week prior to Xbox One players, with the PS4 private beta kicking off on August 25, 2017, and running through to August 28, 2017. Meanwhile, the beta for Xbox One starts on September 1, 2017, and runs through to September 4, 2017.

The private beta will be open to pre-order customers, who will then be given a beta code in order to access it when the time comes. For more information, head to the Call of Duty: WW2 beta website.

It's fair to say that Activision is hoping that Call of Duty: WW2 will be able to help return the Call of Duty franchise to its former glory, after Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare undid some of the incremental positivity accumulated from both Black Ops 3 and Advanced Warfare. Although Infinite Warfare was a huge commercial success, fans of the franchise were not as impressed with the game as previous iterations.

It's been so far, so good for developer Sledgehammer Games, though, as the gaming community has become extremely interested in Call of Duty: WW2. Indeed, the title was on many a fan's list of games to look out for at E3 2017.

With the game now getting higher expectations from fans, the developer will want to make sure that Call of Duty players have as good an experience as possible when the private beta launches. Who knows: perhaps the beta will cover some of the multiplayer maps not included in the campaign to ensure that the single player mode comes as a total surprise at launch.

Call of Duty: WW2 will be released on November 3, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The private beta will be open to PS4 users from August 25, 2017, and for other platforms from September 01, 2017.
