Season 5 of Call of Duty: Warzone has arrived, and it appears to have come with its fair share of hiccups. While the newest update of the popular shooter brings about exciting playlist changes, a fresh battle pass, and more, there are those who are unhappy with Season 5 of Call of Duty: Warzone thus far. Specifically, many of the fan-favorite guns have been tweaked in ways that have not gone over well with players. However, one major change to the Fennec SMG in Warzone appears to be a bug, and it makes the gun slightly overpowered.

Many weapons have been nerfed and buffed in Call of Duty: Warzone with the Season 5 update. In the case of the Fennec SMG, the close quarters weapon had its bullet velocity increased by 13.4%. The hope was that the gun would be slightly more viable overall, and especially at further ranges. However, upon testing the weapon out, players have quickly realized that Raven Software may have accidentally increased the bullet velocity by a much larger percentage than that.

Instead of a small increase in velocity after the Season 5 update to Call of Duty: Warzone, the Fennec SMG suddenly feels like a hitscan weapon. With hitscan, there is no bullet drop and no "leading" required, as there is no projectile bullet. Instead, the weapon hits the target the moment the trigger is pulled. Hitscan in some ways means that the bullet "time-travels" instantly to the target. However, it is not that the Fennec SMG suddenly received hitscan powers and became the best SMG in Warzone, it is more likely that Raven Software increased the bullet velocity much higher than intended.

Popular Call of Duty YouTuber JGOD uploaded a video showing off the Fennec SMG newly-given abilities and explained some data behind it, along with his theory on what happened. Instead of multiplying the current velocity of the Fennec by 13.40%, it is possible that Raven Software multiplied it by 1340% instead. This would explain why the Fennec is suddenly a laser gun in terms of how quickly the bullets get from the barrel to the target.

The gun itself becomes much more viable in this state, however, it is not some all-powerful weapon of destruction either. The Fennec still is not very accurate at range, blows through ammo quickly, and takes plenty of bullets before taking an enemy down. However, it would certainly make sense for Raven Software to revert this mistake and fix the Fennec before the massive Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone update that was just announced.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
