Call of Duty: Warzone players need to do a lot of sprinting in their matches, regardless of whether they are fighting on Verdansk or Rebirth Island. As such, they should be happy to see that Raven has added new options that make sprinting in Call of Duty: Warzone easier on the thumbs.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s settings have previously only allowed for two options when it comes to tactical sprinting. The first is the default choice, which saw players pressing the sprint button once to for a regular sprint and a second time to lift their gun and run a bit faster. The other option was auto tactical sprint, which saw players instantly going into the fastest run possible when moving. However, new options have been added, letting gamers have more control over their Operator’s movement.

If Call of Duty: Warzone players head to the controller tab of the accessibility menu, they will see all the options. The traditional double tap option still exists, and players will find it at the top of the list. It remains the default choice as well, so those looking to make a change will need to manually select one of the other settings. The next setting is single tap from sprint, which lets players go into a tactical sprint by pressing the thumbstick once. Finally, single tap from run lets players go into tactical sprint instantly if they press on the thumb stick.

It is also worth noting that auto tactical sprint is not being removed from the game. Enabling it will simply override these new settings, meaning that players have even more options when it comes to their movement. Developer Raven Software stated that the decision was made in part so that gamers could have strategic control over their movement, though it was primarily done to prevent any joint pain that could come from players overusing their thumbs. It should be of great use to those with Fine Motor issues, too.

Considering that Call of Duty: Warzone’s Pacific map will be massive like Verdansk, this setting is coming at a perfect time. Players will be doing a lot of sprinting as they fight on the island, so needing to tap the thumb stick twice could have gotten annoying. With three options in addition to auto sprint, gamers should have no problem finding the right setting. With more controller settings never being a bad thing, this is a solid addition to the game.

With accessibility in gaming becoming more of a focus than ever before, it is great to see Call of Duty: Warzone follow suit. While this change will be irrelevant to some, it could make the game a lot less strenuous to play for others.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
