Call of Duty: Warzone is full of ways to kill enemy players, and the Proximity Mine is one of the most reliable. However, while players usually use Mines to cover doors or staircases, one Call of Duty: Warzone fan has found an extra use for them in Plunder.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Plunder mode sees players focused entirely on getting money as opposed to surviving and killing other players. The first person to reach $1,000,000 wins the match, and while respawning is a mechanic, death will see players losing a big chunk of their money - a huge consequence for the loot-focused game mode. One of the quickest ways to make money are the supply drops that drop into the map, and one Call of Duty: Warzone player has found a way to weaponize them.

Usually, Call of Duty: Warzone players opening a supply drop have to worry about other players taking them out. This is because the process of opening the crate takes extremely long and puts the person interacting with it at risk. However, Redditor sir-ornery has found a way to make looting money crates scary even when no enemies are in the area. Their footage starts with them placing a few Proximity Mines directly on the green smoke that signifies a supply drop is on the way.

The supply drop lands perfectly on the player’s Proximity Mines, completely disguising them from any enemies that would have been able to spot the explosives. The Redditor then climbs onto a distant cliff that is entirely out of sight, looking down at their supply drop and waiting for someone to come close. Sure enough, someone does, pulling up in one of Call of Duty: Warzone’s vehicles. After opening the crate, they are killed instantly by the trap, and sir_ornery parachutes off the cliff to collect all the money that the looter was going to receive. They quickly rise up the leaderboard with the cash from the dead player and the drop.

Unsurprisingly, many commenters both respected and despised the Redditor for the Call of Duty: Warzone clip, with underlicou sharing that they are now going to be “traumatized” when opening money crates. This is understandable, as the clip has received 1,500 upvotes - meaning that some players who saw the clip might start using this strategy in their own Plunder games. With the victim of the booby trap surely seeing the Proximity Mines right before they exploded, they were likely shocked.

With different clips showing uses for some of Call of Duty: Warzone’s other equipment, gamers are clearly having fun finding new tricks to take out their foes. From now on, players may want to get to supply drop landing spots before the crates hit the ground.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
