Call of Duty: Warzone is a popular game, though it has seen some problems with overpowered weapons, bugs, and cheating as of late. With the weapon problem recently fixed via nerfs and a balancing pass, it seems like Activision is now turning its attention to stopping Call of Duty: Warzone cheaters from ruining the game.

After major content creators like Drift0r and Vikkstar stepped away from Call of Duty: Warzone, citing the overwhelming number of hackers and glitch-users as their reasoning, Activision attacked cheaters like never before. Aside from making several statements and promising better anti-cheat detection going forward, an astonishing 60,000 bans were carried out in response to the issues reported by the game's community. Fortunately, it seems like this has made a noticeable difference in match quality.

While it was unclear if this huge wave of Call of Duty: Warzone bans would accomplish anything, as numerous waves of bans have happened in the past, a few high-profile streamers and YouTubers have claimed that the latest batch of bans has made an impact. Symfuhny was one of these streamers, and a clip taken from his recent Call of Duty: Warzone stream sees him talking about just how much of a difference removing the accounts has made.

According to the dedicated Call of Duty fan, his past few days of playing have seen a major drop-off in players using Call of Duty: Warzone cheats — whether they be aimbots, wallhacks, or the constantly returning Stim glitch. Symfuhny says “I’ve played eight hours yesterday, an hour and a half today, and I haven’t died to a cheater once.” Considering that one Call of Duty: Warzone player has lost to cheaters over 1,000 times, this is a noticeable improvement and a major step in the right direction for the game.

What makes Symfuhny’s claim more exciting is that another well-known Call of Duty: Warzone player has backed him up, with the two gamers believing that actual change has been made. According to BobbyPoffGaming, he ran into “nine hackers” the day before the update, only coming across three the day it dropped. The day after, not a single cheater was encountered, with Poff “really surprised” that they have not yet made a return to the game given how quickly they usually come back.

While this could just be the calm before the storm, there is good reason for Call of Duty: Warzone players to be excited. With hackers making fresh accounts not seeming to work as well as it normally does, players may be able to finally focus on enjoying the game and theorizing about new Call of Duty: Warzone content.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
