Season 6 of Call of Duty: Warzone is right around the corner, and the newest update looks to bring about some intriguing changes leading up to the Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard integration that will take place later this year. Players can expect the return of a familiar Gulag, new points of interest around the map, fresh weapons, and more. October 7 cannot come soon enough.

Each new season of Warzone brings new weapons and meta changes, but perhaps the most intriguing and exciting addition will likely be the spiritual return of the fan-favorite original Gulag. It is true that the Call of Duty battle royale can catch heat online for some of its issues. But there is little doubt that everyone from Call of Duty grandmas to professional streamers to fans who have been enjoying the series since its birth nearly two decades ago still enjoy the game and pay attention whenever fresh content drops.

Ever since it first left, Warzone fans have wanted the original Gulag to return. The Season 6 Gulag apparently will not be a one-to-one remake of the first, but it appears to be heavily inspired by it. The map layout looks very similar, and players will still be able to chuck rocks while in waiting. It will be interesting to see just how close it resembles the day-one Gulag that came with Call of Duty: Warzone in early 2020.

Another massive addition for Season 6 of Call of Duty: Warzone is the new points of interest that have been scattered through the map. World War 2-style bunkers are now hidden underneath Verdansk. Apparently, they have been there all along. According to the blog post, the passageways and armaments rooms pre-date the bunkers that held Warzone Easter eggs in the past. It would not at all be a surprise if these World War 2 bunkers again held secrets that set off the events that end up destroying the map and laying down the foundation for the Call of Duty: Vanguard integration. Along with the bunkers, an earthquake has hit areas of the map including Downtown and the Stadium, which drastically alters the verticality and geography of the area.

Along with the map-specific alterations, players can expect to battle it out with new weaponry in Season 6 as well. A lever-action .410 Ironhead shotgun will be available at launch when players reach Tier 15 of the battle pass. The fan-favorite fully-auto Grav assault rifle will also be returning at launch and can be unlocked at tier 31 on the battle pass. Meanwhile, the LAPA SMG will come at a later date in the season, which is something fans can look forward to right after Warzone nerfed a few of its SMGs.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
