Call of Duty: Warzone is nearing the end of Season 3, with many expecting the Season 4 start date to be as early as June 3. Whether or not that's the case remains to be seen, but Activision has been ramping up the Warzone Season 4 hype. The latest tease comes in the form of a "top secret" message that Activision included in its latest Call of Duty blog post, teasing exactly what's in store for Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4.
The message, which can be read in its entirety at the bottom of this post, is addressed to "all armistice operators" in Verdansk, the Warzone battle royale map. It talks about a "prototypical weapon" and encourages players to listen in on the Russian phone messages that they can find all over the map. This is a direct reference to how Warzone players can get codes to open the bunker doors by listening to the phone messages in the game.
It then goes on to talk more about the SMG, which is a "custom-built submachine gun." Presumably, this is in reference to the MP7 Mud Dauber SMG that players can find in Warzone's Bunker 11, but it's also possible that it is referencing one of the new weapons that are going to be added as part of Warzone Season 4. The Vector SMG has already leaked for the game, so perhaps this message is referencing that.
The message also mentions the threat of "thermonuclear war," which fits into narrative surrounding the Warzone nuke. For the uninitiated, Warzone players have also found a nuke in Bunker 11, with many believing that it will play a key role in the game's next big event. The running theory is that the nuke will explode and change the Warzone map in some significant way, not unlike how Fortnite changes each map from one season to the next.
So far, it's unclear exactly what is happening in Call of Duty: Warzone's Season 4. Teases indicate that it will involve Captain Price as a playable operator, but beyond that, details remain scarce. Other reports claim that Warzone Season 4 will be used to reveal Black Ops Cold War to the masses, but that also remains to be seen.
Dataminers have found evidence that Black Ops content, like the RC-XD killstreak and Cold War-era spy lanes, could be coming to Warzone soon, but nothing official has been announced. Fans will want to keep an eye out while playing just in case they come across any additional teases or secrets in the meantime.
