Cheating and hacking have been massive topics recently in the Call of Duty: Warzone community as Raven Software continues to try and stem the rising tide. Last week, the Raven announced that a couple of ban waves that over 50,000 flagged accounts had been removed. However, the anti-cheat post was met with frustration from Call of Duty fans as they continue to push for stronger protection methods for the free-to-play experience, especially as most banned accounts simply create a new one and continue to damage matches.
Unfortunately, the hacker issues have only seemingly gotten worse over the past few months, with matches being ruined due to aimbotting, going invisible, wall hacking, and more. There have been times that the community have won over known hackers, such as one being banned during a livestream or another Call of Duty lobby uniting to take down a hacker using an aimbot to rack up a massive kill streak. Players have seen upped the stakes in the fight against cheaters including one fan utilizing a special anti-cheat loadout for a little revenge.
Over on Reddit, a user known as SyN7W detailed a way that they've had success with overcoming hackers in Warzone matches. The realization first came about after they were killed by an unseen enemy from a long distance away. After winning their Gulag match, they used a loadout drop to switch to a class using a Riot Shield and made the trek to the hacker's last known location for some payback.
Ultimately, they managed to locate the cheater and thanks to the riot shield, SyN7W is able to block the incoming shots while using thermite to stick the enemy and burn them to death. Pulling up the stat tracker revealed that the cheater had 30 kills under their belt, five times more than the next nearest player. Not only that, the player was only level 6 and was clearing out the lobby incredibly fast, indicating that some sort of cheating was going on. While SyN7W received their fair share of kudos from the community, many in the comments lamented the fact that Call of Duty: Warzone is now so broken that players are forced to specifically create an anti-cheat class just to play.
With this clip, most players will likely be thankful that the riot shield is an available option. Last month during the launch of Season 4, fans were divided over it's place inside of the battle royale with many feeling it caused too many problems. Ultimately, the riot shield was removed from loot boxes entirely in order to make them appear less during matches, being relegated to loadout drops only.
