Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has risen to become one of the leading forces in the saturated battle royale genre, with the influence of the CoD name and the unique spin on the genre's formula that the franchise offers predictably leading to huge player counts. As well as being a free-to-play franchise, the IP has historically offered post-launch content updates and a large variety of different game modes to boost fan engagement and interest.

One of the most popular alternative modes offered by Call of Duty: Warzone is the Resurgence mode, typified by its close quarters and high-octane nature. It has now been confirmed that Resurgence is set to soon make a return within the recently released Warzone 2, and newer fans of the franchise may want to know more about what exactly they can expect from the game mode.

Resurgence mode was first added to the original Call of Duty: Warzone alongside the first season of Black Ops Cold War in December 2020. The primary appeal of Resurgence mode is that it possesses its own unique map away from the primary battle royale map of the title, with the original Warzone using the well-received Rebirth Island as its Resurgence mode map.

This is because Resurgence is of a much faster and unpredictable pace when compared to Warzone's standard gameplay experience, with eliminated players being able to redeploy after an allotted time frame if one of their squad mates is still alive. Each player also spawns in with a self-revive kit, with teammate redeploys occurring faster if a surviving team member downs or kills enemy combatants. With the Resurgence map being much smaller than the standard battle royale map and having features like rechargable supply boxes, the mode offers an addictive and action-packed gameplay experience that still falls within the general battle royale framework of Warzone.

Warzone Resurgence

While Warzone 2 has proven to be a popular title since its recent November 2022 release date, it is more than clear that players are now hungry to experience the next step of gameplay that the title will offer. A huge step in the post-launch roadmap of the title is set to soon come with Season 2 of Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2, which will launch on February 15.

Although the sentiment around this was recently deflated due to a two-week delay of Warzone 2's Season 2, the scope of content that the update is set to bring is more than enough to keep fans excited. It has been confirmed that Warzone 2 will be receiving a Resurgence mode of its own as a part of Season 2's content, with fans already getting a glimpse at the brand-new map that has been created for the mode.

The map for Warzone 2's Resurgence mode is called Ashika Island, and possesses seven key points of interest that will be aiming to provide a close-knit yet varied in-game experience. This map will also be playable within Warzone 2's DMZ mode, with the crown jewel location of the map being a recreation of World at War's iconic Castle map. With how popular the fast-paced and highly replayable experience of Resurgence was within the original Warzone, it is no surprise that the game mode will soon make a deserved return within Warzone 2.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
