Call of Duty: Warzone has proven to be a trailblazer of the battle royale genre. With the free-to-play online shooter recently reaching two years on the market, Activision is understandably implementing new content to keep gameplay fresh.

With Season 2 Reloaded of Call of Duty: Warzone releasing on March 23, swathes of new content has arrived along with it. One of the most exciting new additions that has been implemented with the advent of Season 2 Reloaded is that of the Rebirth Reinforced map. The Success and Variation of Warzone

Warzone has proven to be a successful and lucrative venture for Activision, now being firmly established as a consistent element of the rapidly shifting Call of Duty brand. Originally launching in March 2020, the title quickly rose to the forefront of the industry, with Warzone achieving a massive audience of 60 million concurrent players just two months after launch.

The now-iconic map of Verdansk, which contained a blend of Call of Duty landmarks, proved to be an instant hit with fans who quickly became intimate with every facet of the map's meta and secrets. However, as is the norm with many battle royale games, this map made way to new variation in an attempt to sustain the massive playerbase Warzone boasts. The boldest variation came in the form of the scrapping of Verdansk to make way for the World War 2-era Pacific map Caldera, which launched in December 2021 alongside Call of Duty Vanguard.

While Caldera was met with mixed fan reactions, the implementation of the map Rebirth Island in 2020 has rivaled Verdansk in terms of fan acclaim. Rebirth Island, based off the real-life Alcatraz Island, offers a more intimate, close-quarters, and fast-paced Warzone experience that resonated well with fans. The map has developed a place within Warzone as the go-to warmup map, and a place for aspiring players to hone their close-quarters combat abilities.

Despite the positive reputation held by Rebirth Island, it is also an aspect of Warzone that is aging, and needs both minor and major adjustments. As a part of Call of Duty: Warzone's Season 2 Reloaded, Rebirth Reinforced has been introduced, bringing with it a multitude of changes.

Updated Points of Interest: Stronghold

One of the major changes to the original Rebirth Island map that fans should expect is to points of interest found across the map. One point of interest that has been altered is that of the area once known as Security Station, which has been modified and renamed "Stronghold."

Security Station had been identified as one of the least popular points of interest in Warzone, with a lot of effort needed to modify the area so it can provide more versatility. The main addition players will notice is a variety of new buildings, with a multi-storied radar building as well as an extension to the checkpoint gate. The addition of these buildings creates needed verticality in these areas, with a Redeploy Balloon in the area aiming to increase the presence of combatants.

Updated Points of Interest: Docks

Another added point of interest is the Docks, taking over previous the Warzone point of interest known as Shore. The primary difference here is a huge supply vessel docked at the area, which players can access via a gangplank. This finally gives some nautical presence to the island, which had no ships prior to the update.

This updated point of interest also adds a slew of cover in the form of dock equipment, cargo, and cranes. Littered with ground loot and Supply Boxes, the climbable masts of the supply vessel provides a serious level of verticality that is perfect for scouting out the other areas of a small but saturated map.

Updated Points of Interest: Prison Courtyard

The Prison Courtyard, an already existing point of interest in Warzone, has received a much-needed makeover within Rebirth Reinforced. In its original iteration, the Prison Courtyard was renowned for being precarious due to its completely open nature, and was often avoided by a majority of players.

This criticism is the main inspiration behind the changes made to Prison Courtyard, with an array of objects now littering the once-barren area. Cover is available in the form of debris and crates, as well as army tents scattered around the courtyard. New catwalks also provide layers to the area, adding a new versatile dynamic to the once unpopulated Rebirth Island point of interest.

Rebirth Reinforced Event

Alongside updated points of interest, the launch of Rebirth Reinforced also includes an in-game event that provides serious amounts of experience for dedicated players. The event contains challenges which, if fully completed, grant players access to unique cosmetic items and weapon blueprints.

There are also community-wide kill challenges available that could grant each player 25,000 XP. This event will also allow players to interact with new Weapon Trade Stations, which swap weapons that are out of ammo for others, with cash bonuses being provided depending on the rarity level of a traded weapon. In all, the introduction of Rebirth Reinforced is sure to provide more variation and replayability for even the most seasoned Warzone veteran.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
