Not all Call of Duty: Warzone fans have been pleased with the Pacific update and the many changes it has brought to the game. As such, it will be interesting to see how the community reacts to the rumor about Rebirth Island being replaced in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2.

The concerning thing about this rumor is that Caldera has not been a hit with the Call of Duty: Warzone fan base. While most players were ready to move on from Verdansk, as the location had become stale after nearly two years, many gamers have shown disapproval for Caldera. With the map’s slow gameplay style providing a different approach to combat, and a volcano taking up a large chunk of the map, gamers are struggling to enjoy the new battle royale map. As such, there will likely be concerns that Rebirth Island’s successor will be just as divisive.

While gamers should always take leaks with a grain of salt until they are officially confirmed by Raven Software or Activision, the information about Rebirth Island comes from some very reliable sources. An insider who is almost always accurate, @TheGhostOfHope, backed up claims from fellow leaker @TheMW2Ghost regarding a Resurgence map that will be dropping in the near future. Currently, the only thing the insiders disagree on is a release date, though both have heard that the map is coming soon.

According to @TheMW2Ghost, the map will be dropping as part of Season 2 Reloaded, coinciding with Call of Duty: Warzone’s anniversary. As for the comments by @TheGhostOfHope, their sources have told them that the map will be dropping in Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 3. Either way, the map is coming soon, though the response from the community will be worth keeping an eye on. Rebirth Island, which is essentially a reskin of Alcatraz from Blackout, has been incredibly popular. As such, far fewer gamers have wanted to see it removed.

Currently, @TheGhostOfHope has no idea if map rotation for Call of Duty: Warzone could come alongside this new Resurgence map, though it would likely please gamers worried about Rebirth going away for good. Given how the community has pushed for Verdansk to return since it was taken away, ensuring that Rebirth Island is able to do so down the line would be a wise idea on the part of Raven Software. For now, though, all insiders and the community know is that another 40-player map is seemingly in the works.

With a full-sized Call of Duty: Warzone map rumored to be coming at the end of 2022, this Resurgence map would be a good way to keep the community busy. With Rebirth Island still being popular, though, a potential replacement is going to need to have some excellent gameplay.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
