While many enjoy the Call of Duty series purely as a hobby, its tournaments are considerable and bring in a lot of talent. While Call of Duty: Warzone has seen tournaments since its release back in 2020, it hasn't been an entirely bug-free experience, and recent problems have Call of Duty pros calling for a delay on future tournaments until a new glitch is amended.
While Call of Duty: Warzone bugs have come in many shapes and sizes, this may be one of the most egregious yet. Rather than appearing during a random game, it struck during a tournament, seeing a competitor's Gulag victory ruined when the game couldn't decide if they were a plane or a player.
The glitch hit hard when Buzro encountered it during a $75,000 Twitch Rivals Call of Duty: Warzone tournament. The video of the glitch is now circulating the internet, showing Buzro winning his bout in the Gulag and earning the right to enter the game again. However, everything was thrown off once he spawned, ready to parachute in. His character is briefly shown making the jump, but suddenly is replaced by a crashing plane when Buzro tries to deploy his chute. The game then breaks even more, repeatedly cycling back and forth between Buzro's character and the plane, until he's nearly smashed into the ground. The only thing saving his character from an abrupt end is the game crashing, ultimately causing the tournament to be delayed.
Since the video gained attention, multiple Call of Duty: Warzone pros have taken to social media to decry the current state of the game. Warzone pros are calling for future tournaments to be postponed until the game sees some significant fixes deployed. Skill in a game doesn't amount to match when game bugs are actively undermining a player's ability to survive, let alone win.
While this is quite a significant bug to have emerged, it's unfortunately far from the first time that Warzone has seen serious problems. Although the game is regularly updated, new bugs and exploits seem to emerge all the time. Just within the last week, players have called out skin exploits, bugs that make sniper rifles fire like semi-automatic weapons, and Warzone players getting killed before they even have a chance to start the match.
At this time, Call of Duty: Warzone's developer has yet to directly address the plane glitch. While it will likely be fixed in the days or weeks to come, it remains to be seen if other game-breaking bugs will enter the fray afterwards.
