Call of Duty: Warzone has only been out for a day, but the newest entry in the popular franchise is taking the world by storm. As a battle royale game running on the same progression as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, fans of both groups have been jumping into experience Activision's unique take on the genre. As players are learning, however, tricks from other titles can also be applied in-game.

During a Warzone match, 150 players compete in 3-man squads on the special map of Verdansk. Along with various changes to revival, killstreaks, and other mechanics from the main Call of Duty games, there are elements newcomers must get used to like deploying from a plane onto a certain part of the map. Although dropping can only get players so far, cleverly using parachute mechanics can get them further than normal.

Using the Parachute

After jumping from the plane, deploying a parachute normally glides a player slowly down to their destination on the map. However, it's possible to overestimate the location or reach the ground after everyone else already landed if they do nothing. To prevent this from happening, players can opt to cut their parachute after deployment. Cutting the parachute will briefly propel them ahead, further than if they chose to glide the same distance. Consistently cutting and redeploying the parachute will give the maximum benefits as players dash then stabilize their landing.

Benefiting From This Trick

In a game where getting to the ground first means finding better gear or vantage points, landing before any opponents can mean the difference between finishing someone off or being sent to the Gulag themselves. On YouTube, user MrReekHavoc posted a tutorial that shows what players should be doing in order to fly down faster. He notes while free-falling, a sign that players should redeploy their parachute is when their operator's hands move in front of them.

Utilizing this technique will, at the very least, reduce the number of times players are sitting ducks in the sky. Considering there's another trick going around which involves killing many slow-falling players, everyone should be trying to get down to the ground as soon as possible.

While the state of the game is chaotic right now, mastering this parachute trick now is bound to save endless frustration in the long-run. Even if Infinity Ward does take a look at parachute and falling speed, Call of Duty: Warzone players should take this as a lesson to use anything fair game to their advantage.

Call of Duty: Warzone is now available for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
