The battle royale genre is synonymous with meta changes and constant game updates, leaving players always scrambling to experiment and find exactly what the best possible weapons and playstyles are. A new loadout has emerged to contend for the most overpowered play style for Call of Duty: Warzone, featuring the FiNN LMG.
The FiNN LMG was first introduced to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in season five of that title before being migrated over to the Call of Duty: Warzone variant of the series. The LMG was incredibly overpowered at launch, as the gun’s manageable recoil and long-range allowed players to grab kills previously only reserved for sniper rifles in Warzone. Of course, Activision repeatedly nerfed the FiNN to the point that most players found it not worth using anymore.
Popular YouTuber IceManIsaac disagrees, however. He believes that the FiNN LMG may just be the most overpowered weapon in Call of Duty: Warzone, as long as players use the right attachments. To begin with, the FiNN has a shorter time to kill than the popular MP5 SMG, but if one were to add the LongShot Adverse barrel, the weapon’s fire rate climbs so high that it really enters into a league of its own in terms of damage output. The Finn LMG also has very easy to control recoil that allows nearly all players' shots to land within a man-sized target, making it easy to hit their shots over extended periods of firing.
The rest of IceManIsaac’s loadout is as follows: A Monolithic Suppressor on the muzzle, a Tac Laser for the laser, the Commando Foregrip on the underbarrel, and the VLK 3.0 Optic for the gun’s optic. The FiNN LMG may only currently be rated at 39th in terms of usage and not a very popular weapon on Call of Duty: Warzone right now, but if IceManIsaac is correct about the gun being as powerful as he claims it is, it is easy to imagine it quickly climbing up the ranking list.
Balancing weapons in a competitive shooter like Call of Duty: Warzone is always a perilous job for the developer. Effective strategies can quickly become useless and players can be very vocal when things are no longer going their way. It’s imperative that developers are transparent and communicate well with the community to explain their reasoning for making buffs and nerfs.
Of course, the main benefit to these meta changes is that the game is constantly changing and therefore fresh. Some players will be putting incredibly high play hours into titles like Call of Duty: Warzone or Fortnite so it's critical to keep things moving so they don’t get bored if the game is static for too long. Call of Duty: Warzone’s season five content update is expected on Thursday, August 12, bringing with it more changes to the title.
