Call of Duty: Warzone, the battle royale spin-off of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, is out now and free-to-play. The game has quickly become the fastest-growing battle royale yet, with millions of gamers logging in just in the first week alone. It's clearly the new hotness, but players are still discussing whether or not Call of Duty: Warzone is a great game or not. Mixer streamer Shroud is already comfortable drawing some conclusions. One of Shroud's latest YouTube videos is titled "THE BEST COD YET."

Clearly, Shroud has a positive opinion of Call of Duty: Warzone. He starts off the video by saying that he's having a lot of fun with the new battle royale game. Shroud's only characterization for his opinion is that Warzone is "Chaotic as ****." He means that in a positive way, of course, in that it's fast-paced and filled with often unpredictable action.

From there, Shroud starts comparing Warzone to Apex Legends. Apex Legends being Shroud's most-played game in recent months prior to the launch of Warzone. He starts by referring to one of his biggest criticisms of Warzone, which is its audio problems. He then says he makes an exception for Warzone in this regard because of its "scale," but he doesn't for Apex Legends. Scale, in this context, is meant to mean the size of Warzone. Specifically, the number of players in a given match and the size of Warzone's map.

Shroud goes on to compliment the developers of Warzone, Infinity Ward and Raven Software, saying that it's impressive from a technical perspective. He lauds how Warzone for offering such a content-rich experience that still manages to perform really well. "What they managed to achieve is pretty nuts."

Directly comparing Warzone to Apex Legends, Shroud agrees that Warzone has four times the population of Apex Legends. He goes on, saying it has, "four times the loot, the chaos, map size, everything." ... "It's impressive, for sure." Needless to say, Shroud will be playing Warzone primarily for the relative future.

To be fair to Apex Legends, Shroud is very much a "Flavor of the Month" gamer when it comes to battle royale titles. Going back to when Shroud retired from competitive gaming full-time and took up streaming, he habitually jumps from shooter to shooter. He's often very complimentary to start and then grows bored and more critical. Nevertheless, that doesn't take away from what Warzone has achieved in the interim. Call of Duty: Warzone has captured lightning in a bottle in early 2020.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
