Call of Duty: Warzone players are always trying to set personal records for themselves. While kill counts are a common goal to focus on, some Call of Duty: Warzone players try to win as fast as possible - though it will be impossible to beat one squad’s time.

Matches on Call of Duty: Warzone’s Rebirth Island map are significantly shorter than those that take place in Verdansk. Not only is the map much smaller, making gunfights more frequent, but the player count is extremely low. Specifically, it is set to a maximum of 40 players, which is less than a third of the 150 players that Verdansk supports. As such, it is much easier to pursue quick wins.

As pointed out by Call of Duty: Warzone player and YouTuber Its Novik, most of the videos claiming to have the fastest win in Rebirth Island usually clock in at around four minutes. In these videos, a group of talented players like NICKMERCS will hunt down kills as quickly as possible, with lobbies sometimes having only 15 or 20 players to gun down. However, Its Novik’s record is genuinely impossible to beat, as it puts all the other times to shame.

In the Call of Duty: Warzone video, Its Novik and his group quickly recognize that the lobby is not filling up. In fact, it is emptying. At the start of the footage, there are 9 people in the lobby, meaning that there are only five people Its Novik’s squad would have to beat to get a win. However, four people quickly drop out of the match, clearly disinterested in the idea of a fight against one team and a straggler. The solo player then leaves, uninterested in facing a 4v1 scenario. Instead of the match ending since there is nobody else in the lobby, it begins anyway.

With only Its Novik’s squad alive, the Call of Duty: Warzone match ends before it even begins. As soon as the players prepare to jump, the “Warzone Victory” text appears on the bottom of the screen. The game clearly thinks that all the other players have been defeated, and while the match never should have started in the first place, it is technically a fair win on the part of Its Novik and his group. While the win was completely luck-based and no skill was involved at all, the one-second win cannot be topped, as the best someone could do is tie.

While it is a strange way to set a record, the video is certainly entertaining. Though developer Raven Software could release a patch that makes something like this impossible, this is such a rare occurrence that it may not be worth the studio’s time.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
