Over the years, Call of Duty: Warzone has had its fair share of events, with these either being hits like Haunting of Verdansk or letdowns like Hunt for Adler. Unfortunately, Operation Monarch seems to fall into the latter category, with Call of Duty: Warzone players like NICKMERCS heavily criticizing the event.

The problems Call of Duty: Warzone fans have with Operation Monarch have been discussed quite a bit over the past few days, with the conversation around the event being mostly negative. For starters, players are disappointed that the LTM plays out like a normal battle royale match under Resurgence rules, with the goal of being the last team alive still in place. Others are bothered that Godzilla and Kong cannot actually be defeated despite players having the option to damage them, leading many to ignore the Titans instead.

As for FaZe co-owner NICKMERCS, the streamer and veteran Call of Duty: Warzone player has a much more specific issue with the event. According to NICKMERCS, the biggest issue with Operation Monarch is that Godzilla and Kong do not actually fight each other. While they both roam the map at the same time and attack other players, getting especially aggressive when frenzy mode is engaged, the two behemoths never interact with each other inside an Operation Monarch match. According to NICKMERCS, this is a major disappointment.

Other Call of Duty: Warzone players have had the same complaint about the Godzilla and Kong AI, wishing that they would battle each other if they ended up close together. Some have claimed that the event should be considered false advertising, as the reveal trailer for Operation Monarch showed the beasts fighting - which clearly led players like NICKMERCS to expect a big monster fight on Caldera. With the Godzilla vs. Kong marketing attached as well, it makes sense that players see this as a bit of a bummer.

Perhaps when Operation Monarch comes to an end later on in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3, the event will conclude with the monsters fighting. For now, though, fans are making it clear that this part of the event is a letdown. NICKMERCS’ other complaint is interesting, too, as he says that players may be “spoiled” by Fortnite events. Perhaps this is something for Raven Software to keep in mind going forward, as events on par with those seen in Fortnite seem to be what players are expecting.

With Call of Duty: Warzone 2 on the horizon, Raven will have the chance to provide players with a fresh start alongside major performance and quality of life upgrades. Hopefully, the special events in the sequel will prove to be a step-up as well, as important figures within the Call of Duty community seem displeased with Operation Monarch.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
