Call of Duty: Warzone players have wasted no time figuring out the game’s new meta. Before long, many realized that the C58 Assault Rifle is now the best weapon in Call of Duty: Warzone — though that may soon be changing.

Added at the start of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 4, the weapon did not make much of an impact when it first debuted in Call of Duty: Warzone. However, with the Season 4 Reloaded update serving as a complete overhaul for the game, the C58 has been given new life. In fact, many YouTubers, streamers, and pro players have deemed it the best Assault Rifle that players can use. However, with Raven Software already announcing a nerf for one of its attachments, the C58’s days may be numbered.

As pointed out by the YouTuber JGOD, the C58’s Royal and Kross 4x Optic is “still broken.” When equipped, the attachment sees the gun having far less recoil than it should, as it fires almost completely straight with the sight equipped. Unsurprisingly, this has led to a mixture of complaints and excited players, with the latter having no issue making use of the overpowered Optic. In the replies to JGOD’s latest Tweet on the topic, Raven confirmed that it is “aware” of the problem.

While it does not have a specific ETA on the changes, Raven did promise that the gun’s “broken” nature will be addressed “very soon.” Based on similar comments in the past, it can be assumed that a patch will drop sometime this week. While some may enjoy using the 4x scope, as it allows the C58 to melt players from a distance, it stands out far too much currently. With Call of Duty: Warzone’s TTK balancing pass making every other weapon fair, ensuring that the C58 is not the only valid option is crucial.

Hopefully, the fix comes within the next few days as opposed to later in the week. With NICKMERCS' C58 loadout becoming more popular with each passing day, the overpowered weapon is beginning to dominate in Verdansk. While it will still be a strong option after the Royal and Kross 4x is fixed, it will likely fall more in line with other Assault Rifles. Though it has been compared to the CR-56 AMAX, players who enjoy overpowered guns should use it while it lasts. For those that are already tired of seeing the weapon, it should become a bit less common once Raven releases the game’s next patch.

Based on this incoming Optic fix, it certainly seems like Call of Duty: Warzone players will need to begin searching for the best gun once again. Given how quick the C58 was found, though, the community will likely find a powerful alternative quickly.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
