Basically since Call of Duty: Warzone launched, the MP5 has been a fearsome weapon. In the recent meta, though, players have been flocking to the Modern Warfare version of the weapon rather than the Black Ops equivalent. Now, FaZe Swagg, a professional Call of Duty: Warzone player, is making a case to switch to the latter.

When it comes to base stats, there is very little difference between the two versions of the MP5, but when outfitted with the optimal attachments, the Modern Warfare MP5—like the one used by NICKMERCS—tends to be the more user-friendly of the two. It has better damage at medium range, can achieve lower levels of recoil, and is more forgiving when firing from the hip. The Cold War MP5 requires a greater degree of skill, due to its more aggressive recoil, but rewards players for the effort.

FaZe Swagg is apparently partial to close range loadouts. His build from last month of a PPSH-41 is based on the same principles as this latest Black Ops MP5 loadout. The Black Ops Cold War MP5 excels at close range, and as such, it is important to build it for its optimal distance. In essence, attachments that increase the gun's range, or aim to improve its long-distance accuracy, are mostly a waste.

In the video where he showed off this latest build, FaZe Swagg manages to net himself a ludicrous 41 kills, nearly half of his team's 90 total kills. While this is a far cry from the Call of Duty: Warzone squad kill record, it's proof enough that this loadout means business. It's important to note that FaZe Swagg's style suits the Cold War MP5 build, as taking engagements at over 10 meters with this loadout puts player's at a serious disadvantage. If players are uncomfortable with constantly pushing encounters and tight-quarter combat, it's best to avoid this particular build, as it rewards a fast-paced style that pros tend to use.

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Stock: Raider Stock
  • Underbarrel: Bruiser Grip
  • Ammunition: Stanag 50 Rnd Drum
  • Rear Grip: Serpent Grip

While either version of the MP5 is basically undisputed as the best choice at a close distance, players should pair this gun with a fairly long-ranged weapon. FaZe Swagg opts for a FARA 83—paired with GRU Suppressor, the 19.5 Liberator, Spetsnaz Grip, and the Spetsnaz 60 Round Magazine, and Axial Arms 3x sight—but a recent Warzone bug that removed glint could usher in a very short-lived sniper rifle meta.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
