While most Call of Duty fans may be paying attention to the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War right now, Call of Duty: Warzone is still massively popular, and that doesn't look to be changing anytime soon. Activision plans to keep supporting Call of Duty: Warzone for the long haul, with plans to fully integrate the game with Black Ops Cold War. And while the Call of Duty: Warzone core experience will stay mostly the same, there are still some changes coming, possibly even a new island for the battle royale map.

As pointed out by CharlieIntel, in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 roadmap, fans can see a listing for a "classified Warzone experience." There's not much else to go on except for what appears to be an image of a map with Russian text on it that makes reference to something called "Rebirth Island." CharlieIntel believes that this is a reference to Alcatraz, the famous prison island that has been featured in multiple Call of Duty games in the past.

Alcatraz has been the subject of Call of Duty Zombies maps, but it has also appeared in other Call of Duty battle royale games. Call of Duty Mobile has added Alcatraz to its battle royale map, and Alcatraz was also a part of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout game mode. Considering this, there's a good chance that this tease is an indication that Alcatraz is coming to the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale map.

Alternatively, it could be a sign that Alcatraz will be added as a completely separate, second map for the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale experience. A new Call of Duty: Warzone map has been rumored for quite some time, and while many fans assumed it would be comprised of Black Ops Cold War's bigger maps, maybe it will be a smaller-scale experience. All fans can do for now is speculate and wait for more concrete details from Activision.

As for when more information will come, that remains to be seen. Right now, Activision is focused on launching Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War next Friday, November 13. Then the next big update is the Nuketown '84 map, which is coming to Black Ops Cold War on November 24. And with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 1 not starting until December 10, it's possible fans will have to wait until next month to learn more.

Until then, Call of Duty fans can work to level up their Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War guns in multiplayer, as December 10 will also see them added to the Warzone experience.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
