After months of rumors and speculation, Activision has finally released Call of Duty: Warzone, a battle royale game set in the same universe as 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and using many assets from that game. Hype for Call of Duty: Warzone has been pretty high, but there is one aspect of the gameplay that has left some fans disappointed.

Similarly to Apex LegendsCall of Duty: Warzone restricts players to squads of three. This strict limit stands in stark contrast to other top battle royale games on the market, like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, which give players the choice between solos, duos, three-person teams, or squads. There are some players that won't mind the three person team limit in Call of Duty: Warzone, but others no doubt prefer more standard 4-player squads or even just playing in duos.

While Call of Duty: Warzone teams only allow for three people at launch, it's highly likely that will change at some point in the future. Prior to its announcement, leakers who were right about many other Call of Duty: Warzone details confirmed that the game had some kind of solo mode, duos, and 4-person teams. Considering this, it seems more likely than not that Infinity Ward has already prepared these modes to some extent, and if other battle royale games are any indication, it's just a matter of time until they are added to the game.

But then the question remains when these other game modes will be available in Call of Duty: Warzone. It's possible that they will be reserved for special limited-time events later on, or it's possible that they will be added with the next update. Infinity Ward releases new updates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and since Warzone shares progression with Modern Warfare, the studio will likely support it just as vigorously.

Besides the possibility of expanding teams so players aren't stuck with just trios, Call of Duty: Warzone updates will likely make other changes to the game as well. This will include balance changes, the addition of new items and weapons, and possibly even map changes. It's unclear if Infinity Ward has plans to change the Call of Duty: Warzone map, but other battle royale games have been able to drum up a lot of interest by doing so.

For now, fans can play on the Call of Duty: Warzone launch map and master its unique mechanics, like the 1v1 Gulag respawn system.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
