Infinity Ward has released a new update for Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that makes a few key changes to the core multiplayer as well as the battle royale. Call of Duty: Warzone gets the most attention in the update, with Infinity Ward making a big change to one key feature in the night version of Verdansk, while also changing up the playlists that are available to players.

The headlining change that may be of the most interest to Call of Duty: Warzone players is that helicopters have been disabled in the night version of Verdansk. Infinity Ward didn't offer any explanation as to why it disabled helicopters on the Verdansk night map, but it likely has to do with balancing reasons. Infinity Ward has disabled various Call of Duty: Warzone vehicles in the past to better-balance the game, though it's also possible that helicopters were disabled due to technical issues. Unless Infinity Ward offers a more detailed explanation, all fans can do is speculate.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Warzone fans will notice some new playlists when they boot up the battle royale game today. Infinity Ward has added BR Solo Survivor, as well as a Halloween twist on Juggernaut Royale called Juggourdnaut Royale. The fan favorite Warzone variant mode Plunder has also been added back to the game, but now it's known as Plunder: Candy Collector.

Call of Duty: Warzone fans can expect this Halloween-themed content to remain in the game until November 3, at which point the Haunting of Verdansk event will come to an end. So anyone interested in trying Warzone's new Zombie Royale mode or unlocking all of the Halloween content should be sure to jump in as soon as they can.

Meanwhile, the new update also makes a slight change to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Those playing the standard Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer mode will notice that the pumpkin heads are no longer appearing in the game. It seems that Infinity Ward has disabled Modern Warfare pumpkin heads due to a bug, but stopped short of specifying what the bug was doing exactly.

Fans can expect Infinity Ward to continue supporting both Modern Warfare and Warzone for at least another few weeks, at which point Warzone will then be tied to the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Whether or not more substantial seasonal content is still in the works for Modern Warfare remains to be seen, but more information should come to light in the coming weeks.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
