Many Call of Duty: Warzone fans are in somewhat of a content drought. With Call of Duty: Vanguard still a few months away, players are looking for ways to pass the time. According to reputable leakers in the community, it looks like Raven Software is probably planning to bring back the fan-favorite Halloween event for Call of Duty: Warzone. The event is likely to bring several new cosmetics as well as some significant changes to the battle royale formula through new and returning modes. Currently, major leaks only point toward two new operator skins coming in from two cult-classic films.

During the 2020 Halloween event for Call of Duty: Warzone, titled "The Haunting of Verdansk," players were treated to a plethora of new content to experience. For horror film fans, two new operators in the form of Jigsaw from the Saw franchise and Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre were available for purchase during this limited-time event. The horror icons have yet to return to the in-game shop, much to the dismay of some fans.

There was also the zombie royale game mode in which players that died would come back as a zombie with unique abilities to terrorize the living. The nighttime Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale mode is self-explanatory, but its change of atmosphere and minimal lighting was worth experiencing. Finally, there was the Trick-or-Treat mode with special Supply Boxes that gave any players brave enough to open them some new account-wide equipment.

Call of Duty: Warzone Halloween Leaks

Warzone themed skins

The name of the Call of Duty: Warzone 2021 Halloween event is reported to be "All Hallows Eve," according leaker TheGhostOfHope. Whether the same game modes will return or if there will be brand-new ones is not specified yet. However, it is all but confirmed that one large horror villain name will be joining the list of operators: Ghostface; the iconic serial killer is from the cult-classic Scream. There is a sense of anonymity associated with the persona of Ghostface, as many have donned the mask, which makes him a perfect addition to Warzone. Furthermore, Ghostface would be one of the only operators that make sense to see multiples of in Verdansk.

Another dataminer by the name of Nanikos has found several files pertaining to "Donnie" in-game, which leads fans to believe that a Donnie Darko-themed bundle will also be available. Whether it would be Jake Gyllenhaal's titular character or the uncanny bunny Frank is unclear. The latter makes a lot more sense, even though Frank is not as well-known as Jigsaw, Leatherface, and Ghostface. If true, then it would likely be marketed as the Donnie Darko bundle, as that has much more recognition than "Frank the bunny."

With that said, it seems like this year's Halloween event is going for a cult-classic vibe, which would explain the strange choices made for operator skins. Ghostface and Donnie Darko/Frank would certainly be great additions to the ever-expanding roster of Warzone operators. There could be even more operators available than just those two movie villains, though. Since "The Haunting of Verdansk" last year, many fans have hoped for a Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger operator skin. However, it seems like those fans may have to wait for Raven Software to confirm or deny the Halloween Event rumors. This may not be for a few weeks, as Halloween is still a month-and-a-half away, so Call of Duty: Warzone fans will have to be patient a while longer.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
