Call of Duty: Warzone has quickly established itself as a popular passtime and standout title in the series, not just for players, but for people watching streams of the game on platforms like Twitch. However it is quickly becoming clear that a big part of the discussion around the game, as well as some of the appeal, comes from glitches rather than gameplay. Fans are just as likely to enjoy a glitch sticking a Warzone streamer inside a tree as they are to enjoy watching  that same player make an incredible sweep and win it all.

As fun as they are, the fact that bizarre glitches seem to be a constant part of Warzone at this point is still a problem, considering the game has been out for a while and new bugs keep cropping up. For every one that gets fixed, two more surface, and it is only funny to lose because of a glitch so many times.

A new bug has been making the rounds that definitely fits the trend of "funny at first, then very annoying", and it has to do with the Gulag. Some players have won their match by staying inside the Gulag waiting for their chance at a one on one for so long that the circle closes completely in the rest of the map. This results in the winners of the one on one matches beings sent out into the circle to die, and the last player alive inside the Gulag wins the entire match. Unlike a bug in the system like the recent Warzone and Modern Warfare XP glitch, there is actually some doubt as to whether this is a mistake in a line of code somewhere or simply a design oversight introduced in the latest patch.

While the Gulag does close its doors to players who die past a certain time during the game, any matches lined up inside it still take place for as long as necessary. This means that the cause of this "glitch" could simply be a lot of people dying early in the game and then taking a very long time to work through their Gulag matches. This is only one of several odd timing quirks of the Gulag, with another example being mines set by players sticking around after their Gulag match is over. It may behoove Activision to look into the Gulag as a game mechanic overall, or at least set harsher timers and hard resets on it for each match.

There is a real possibility that some players will try to use this bug to their advantage, utilizing stealth to stay alive as long as possible and being sent to the Gulag right before it closes for good. Hopefully the issue is dealt with before this becomes a prevalent tactic.

With this "Gulag cooking" power and an invincibility bug that was recently discovered, it seems obvious that another patch is required to ensure fair play in Warzone, and fast.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
