Call of Duty: Warzone is still one of the most popular online multiplayer games in the world, but it's definitely not at the heights it once was. The game had more than 100 million players at its peak, which ultimately led the Call of Duty franchise to break multiple records last year. However, many players are migrating to other battle royale titles for a better experience.

Call of Duty: Warzone witnessed a rather dramatic decline after reaching its peak in 2021. According to Activision itself, Call of Duty: Warzone lost roughly 50 million monthly players in a single year due to a multitude of factors, one of which could be the lackluster performance of Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Meanwhile, some experts attribute this steep decline to numerous bugs in the game. The battle royale title is known for random glitches that often punish players, making it a frustrating experience. One particular Call of Duty: Warzone bug makes it impossible for players to win by spawning them out of the map's boundaries. Another gamer has shared their experience with a Warzone bug that is not as frustrating but equally bizarre. Twitter user Jonna Mae uploaded a video where they spot another team's player looting materials from a loadout drop. Initially, the user shoots the opponent, but as nothing happens, they decide to approach the said player.

Upon closer inspection, the user discovers that the figure who seemingly appeared to loot the loadout drop wasn't a fellow player but a phantom figure standing idly without any movement. What's more astonishing is that none of Jonna Mae's teammates could see the "ghost" player as it appeared only on Jonna's screen. After discarding it as a bug, the user goes on to loot the loadout box. This Call of Duty: Warzone glitch seems to be an isolated incident as of now because no one has stepped forward claiming to witness a similar occurrence.

Many fans have criticized the game these bugs and reportedly adding bots to Call of Duty: Warzone to make up for the loss of 50 million players. Call of Duty: Warzone gamers regularly complain about suspicious players who exhibit bot-like behavior. While a small percentage of bots might be helpful for new gamers to enjoy the game, existing players believe bots erode the idea of an online multiplayer game.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
