In Call of Duty: Warzone, lucky players may find a gas mask which allows them to survive for a short time in the gaseous circle which decreases the size of the battlefield over the course of the game. Unfortunately, many players are experiencing issues with the animation of putting the gas mask on.

Whenever a player with a gas mask enters or exits the circle, their character will automatically stop firing to either put on or take off their gas mask. While the automatic nature of this can be convenient and insures that players don't die because they forgot to equip the gas mask, it can also be incredibly detrimental to some Call of Duty: Warzone players.

Redditor MaReDioa shares their negative experience, as a gunfight during a pivotal moment of the match was interrupted by the mask animation, ultimately resulting in their death. The clip is rather sad to watch.

Other users on Reddit echo their sentiment, with many saying that the same thing has happened to them before. To make matters worse, the issue tends to be most prevalent at the end of a match when the circle is getting smaller and smaller at a rapid pace and slipping into it on accident is incredibly easy to do. Frustration about the feature seems to be pretty widespread, with many claiming they avoid gas masks altogether to make sure that something like this doesn't happen. Though losing is part of the game, losing because of an involuntary animation interrupting a gunfight is pretty annoying.

There are some easy fixes for this, though, with the most common suggestion being to make the gas mask toggleable. While it is true that making equipping and removing it manual could result in players forgetting to put it on or wasting it by leaving it on too long, most would prefer that to dying because of an untimely animation. Others simply suggest that the animation should take a backseat to aiming, waiting to trigger until the player stops aiming down sights. Regardless, it seems like this should be an easy fix on Infinity Ward's part.

Unfortunately, fans don't seem very confident that Infinity Ward will do anything, with many having already accepted that the numerous bugs in Call of Duty: Warzone are here to stay for the most part. With any luck, those more pessimistic players will end up being wrong, but that remains to be seen.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
