As the end of the year approaches, it is an exciting time to be a fan of Call of Duty: Warzone. Since the battle royale launched in March of 2020, players have been waiting for another massive map to replace the war-torn streets of Verdansk. On December 8, the wishes of the community are finally going to be answered, as the new Caldera map is scheduled to release. While the update brings loads of new features, console gamers are hoping one specific option from the PC version of the game makes its way over to consoles as well.

Getting the first shot on an opponent during a gunfight in Warzone can often mean the difference between winning or losing. With this in mind, the developer has included an adjustable FOV slider on PC that allows players to customize how much they see on screen, making it easier to spot enemies on the battlefield. Unfortunately for those playing on a console, the option has remained absent from the settings menu. However, new details have emerged suggesting that this might be about to change.

Following requests from the Warzone community, the developer spoke about the possibilities of a FOV slider coming to console versions. The news about the feature came by way of a tweet from Ted Timmins, the Creative Director of Warzone. In the message from the developer, he noted that the studio was aware of the demand for the feature. In addition, he explained that he typically played the battle royale on console, and therefore understood the reasons for a FOV slider.

Unfortunately for Call of Duty fans, Timmins neither confirmed nor denied that the widely requested option would be coming to console versions. However, he hinted that the prospects looked promising in the near future. According to Timmins, the patch notes ahead of the December 8 update would reveal that the developers were listening to player feedback.

While adjusting the FOV can impact how smoothly a game performs, other top first-person shooters have already incorporated the feature. For example, games like Apex Legends and Halo Infinite give players the option to adjust FOV on consoles, making the absence of the option in Warzone seem more noticeable. Furthermore, the Call of Duty series is no stranger to giving console players control over their FOV setting, as Call of Duty: Vanguard even includes the option.

It will be interesting to see if this feature comes to Warzone soon. While these comments from the Creative Director failed to confirm if and when the FOV slider could appear, it seems that there’s a chance that it might be added soon.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
