Later this year, Activision Blizzard will replace Call of Duty: Warzone with Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Battle royale players will leave behind all of their progress and all of their microtransactions for Warzone if they choose to play Warzone 2. In the meantime, Activision Blizzard has the hard sell of persuading players to continue supporting Warzone while it's still a focus. With that in mind, the latest and final season of Call of Duty: Warzone has now been unveiled.Call of Duty: Warzone Last Stand will be the fifth and final season of Activision Blizzard's popular battle royale. Season 5 will arrive on August 25 and while no end date is confirmed it's likely to last through the approach of Call of Duty: Warzone 2. As expected of a new season, Last Stand will feature a new battle pass and plenty of content to unlock, including the EX1 energy rifle and RA 225 SMG.RELATED: Call of Duty Accused of Plagiarizing Another SkinThe new Call of Duty: Warzone season will start off with a major bang, quite literally. Caldera will begin experiencing volcanic activity, with lava flowing and molten rocks falling from the sky. More specifically, the Peak POI in Call of Duty: Warzone's Caldera map has been reworked to feature multiple lava flows. Rocks will also be blasted out of the top of the volcano and will fall across the island.

Other major changes for Last Stand include the addition of a new Gulag map for Caldera. This Gulag is said to be inspired by an "old favorite" so veteran Call of Duty players should get some enjoyment over the new design. Also, Last Stand will also update and improve Call of Duty: Warzone's lighting system. The changes should offer warmer colors, as well as improved sunlight interaction with the environment.

Those wanting to have the full Last Stand experience in Call of Duty: Warzone can try out the battle royale's new LTM, Operation: Last Call. This game mode is described as inspired by Search and Destroy and can produce different outcomes depending on the match's results. Players will either defend Caldera and defuse bombs across the island, or sabotage the island and detonate explosives.

Last Stand's arrival on August 25 may be the start of Call of Duty: Warzone's final season, but it won't be the battle royale's final update. Activision Blizzard has already confirmed plans for a mid-season update for Last Stand. More information regarding Last Stand, as well as future Warzone updates, will be shared in time.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
