With the introduction of the Pacific update for Call of Duty: Warzone, plenty of changes have been brought about to the popular Battle Royale, including the new island map of Caldera. With such a major update though, there have been calls for further updates in order to fix both mechanical problems with the Warzone Pacific update which have been causing bugs, and weapon changes in order to make the experience fairer for players, no matter what gun they are using.

As a game often played competitively, Call of Duty: Warzone players will often demand changes when a gun becomes "unfairly" strong or weak. While the Warzone meta is constantly shifting, as is the case with many competitive games. At the beginning of 2021, players were asking developer Raven Software for nerfs of the DMR 14, and even rapper Lil Uzi Vert joined the chorus of complaints around the overpowered weapon which was dominating the meta at the time. Now, instead of calling for nerfs, Call of Duty: Warzone players are making a case to buff the Automaton rifle.

The Automaton, an assault rifle brought from Call of Duty: Vanguard, deals a decent amount of damage, and in Call of Duty: Vanguard the weapon's low recoil and high fire-rate made it an instant success with players. However, the Call of Duty: Warzone version of the weapon has been underwhelming at best for many fans like MiFeyz who even refered to the gun as "unusable" after it was hit with a heavy nerf by Raven.

Compared to the other assault rifles, the Automaton now has an incredible rate of recoil, leading to many looking to any other weapon as currently the Automaton is difficult to control. While many agree that the pre-nerf Automaton was very strong, there is also an opinion within the Call of Duty community that Raven should find a middle ground between a gun being overpowered and nerfed into oblivion. Currently, Raven Software seem to be working on a fix for a bug causing players' controllers to disconnect while playing Call of Duty: Warzone.

As Call of Duty: Warzone evolves alongside the release of a new map and major updates, there have been plenty of opinions on the game's latest developments. YouTube streamer TimTheTatman stated that the new Caldera map "feels dead" and was boring to play. Other players though, have still been finding fun within the first Pacific season. One player managed to hijack a plane in mid-air, and Raven's own take on Krampus was introduced with the Festive Fervour event, though the latter was nerfed after harassing players in Caldera.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
