Since launching to resounding success last year, Activision's battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone has received constant updates to keep its content fresh. In December, those updates took a whole new direction when Call of Duty: Warzone integrated with Black Ops Cold War, the newly released title from Treyarch and Raven Software. The first season following that integration is expected to end February 24, according to Dexerto, and now fans are finding teasers for what new features may be coming to the game soon.

A new Call of Duty: Warzone update was released February 12 by Raven Software, one that fixed some problems like hit markers not registering properly and weapon XP not being awarded via multiplayer matches in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This update also prepared for the franchise's Valentine's Day celebration, which includes a new mode called Kiss Confirmed in Black Ops Cold War. However, fans began to notice teasers around the open-world map of Verdansk shortly after it released.

The most notable teaser, seemingly first documented by Call of Duty: Warzone player SavageSesh on Reddit, is distant storm clouds that occasionally let off flashes of lightning. That video first uploaded to the r/CODWarzone subreddit Friday has been shared across the Internet, and many fans believe it could point to a dynamic weather system in Season 2.

While this is speculative for now, meaning it's unclear exactly what dynamic weather over Verdansk would entail, Warzone would not be the first battle royale to toy with such a concept. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Season 9 featured a dynamic map that had an active volcano in the center, ensuring players would not know where lava flows were headed whenever they dropped in.

Other Call of Duty players have noted the storm clouds, with Redditor HuckleberryFinn7777 pointing to them appearing over the Downtown/Park area. However, they and other users have also noted a mysterious boat is headed toward Verdansk that could contain something entirely different to kick off Season 2 - perhaps having to do with the Black Ops series' staple Zombies.

Whatever developers are teasing for Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2, players will likely only have to wait a few weeks before finding out exactly what it will entail. The battle royale continues to be popular, with even sports stars like Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes talking about Warzone prior to the recent Super Bowl, so whatever is coming next should offer more fun to keep those fans invested.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
