Call of Duty: Warzone has made some small changes to its map since the battle royale launch, but it's generally stayed the same for the most part. However, a new look for the Call of Duty: Warzone main menu suggests that there could be a big change in store for the map in a future update.

Those playing Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare this weekend will notice that the image on the main menu has been updated. It now features a look at the Dam location from the Call of Duty: Warzone map, but with one big change. In its current state, the Call of Duty: Warzone Dam is frozen over, but in the image, it's clearly unfrozen, and the frozen lake near the dam is also seemingly gone.

To many, this seems like a tease that big changes are in store for Call of Duty: Warzone's Dam area. It seems that the weather will change in the game, melting the ice on the dam and causing some issues. It's possible that the water from the frozen lake will wash down onto the rest of the map, changing some areas in a manner not unlike what happened in Black Ops 4's Blackout battle royale previously. However, that's just speculation at this time.

If Infinity Ward does make some changes to the Call of Duty: Warzone map in the near future, it wouldn't be terribly surprising. Many battle royale games make changes to their map in order to keep fans interested and engaged with the game, so it would make sense for Warzone to do so as well. Considering this, it's highly unlikely that the Dam location on the Warzone map will be the only one to change in the coming weeks and months.

As for when the Dam ice could melt like in the main menu image, that remains to be seen. Call of Duty: Warzone gets updates on a weekly basis, so it's possible that this big change is just days away. Alternatively, Infinity Ward may wait for the Dam change until later in Warzone Season 3, as a way to keep fans engaged until Season 4 comes with its batch of new content.

In the meantime, Warzone fans can expect new weapons, challenges, and more as additional methods of keeping them playing the game as Season 3 continues.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
