The Call of Duty community is unhappy with the stale of crossplay in Warzone and Modern Warfare. While the feature has been much asked for in various games over the past few years, Xbox One players, in particular, are disappointed about the lack of options, specifically being unable to turn crossplay off.

Many fans rejoiced when Call of Duty: Warzone was confirmed to have crossplay and cross-progression, just like Modern Warfare. Players love the idea of joining up with friends across Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The boundary of systems, and not being able to enjoy gaming with players on other consoles, has been crumbling with popular games like Fortnite. However, the implementation of said crossplay has been less than perfect.

Many players have attempted to turn off crossplay for Warzone thanks to cheaters running rampant on PC, controller aim assist, and more. The problem, however, is that Xbox One players don't have an easy option to do so.

Recently the player base has again taken up the stance of how unfair it is that Xbox One is unable to turn off crossplay. For both PC and PS4, the option to toggle crossplay on and off is right in the settings. Crossplay isn't forced for PC or PS4, but for Xbox One it is. This is infuriating for a large portion of the fanbase.

Some are suggesting that input classification crossplay should be the way to go. A game like Fortnite has cross-platform play based on the player using keyboard and mouse, controller, and even mobile. But still, regardless of the input or system, players can turn off crossplay in the menus if they'd like. The ability to play a game with four friends all using different consoles one minute, and then jumping into a solo match with crossplay turned off is the flexibility players ask for. Crossplay should be in multiplayer games, but options are also needed. This isn't what is happening for Xbox One and Warzone.

With direct competitors like Apex Legends announcing crossplay being on the way, Infinity Ward and Activision may want to tighten up the experience for fans sooner rather than later. Additionally, Respawn has now learned what it probably should and shouldn't do when it comes to the feature.

Whether it is to combat cheaters, create a fair playing field in Warzone, or simply for preference, all Call of Duty players should be able to toggle on or off cross-platform play.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
