With the recent release of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 alongside Modern Warfare 2, players have been experiencing some new bugs. One player got a better bug than usual, however, when they found an incredibly overpowered gas mask during their Call of Duty: Warzone 2 match.

The sequel to popular Call of Duty battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 released November 16. While the sequel does bring in several new features, it still retains the core gameplay of the original battle royale game. This apparently also includes the myriad bugs on release that Call of Duty fans are no doubt quite familiar with by now.

Call of Duty player renz2101 experienced one of those bugs when they found a gas mask that had 22,766% strength, which they promptly shared on Reddit. For reference, gas masks in Warzone are only supposed to go up to 100%, so this bugged mask was as strong as 227 normal gas masks. While a normal gas mask will allow players limited freedom to survive outside the safe zone, this bugged gas mask allowed renz2101 to spend an enormous amount of time outside of it. According to a comment they made on their Reddit post, they used about 7,000% of their supercharged gas mask during the match and ended up winning to boot.

Although this specific bug is great for anyone who manages to get their hands on an overpowered gas mask, it definitely breaks the game in a big way. Gas masks are intended to provide opportunities for some clutch tactical players either on the outskirts of the circle, or near the end of the match when multiple squads are crowded together in the final circle. This bug allows players to abuse the mechanic and simply outlast their opponents, or get kills from an unassailable position in the gas.

It does make for a fantastic post on social media, and a great story to brag about, but ultimately it provides a pretty negative gameplay experience for the vast majority of players. While it's understandable for to be some bugs so soon after launch, game breaking bugs, like the Warzone bug that caused downed players to die instantly, can be a real buzzkill, and Infinity Ward should fix these as soon as possible.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
