released in March, 2020, Warzone is the most recent battle royale to reach massive popularity. Its success cannot only be attributed to the association with the Call of Duty brand, however. Innovative new features like the Gulag and Loadouts help the free-to-play game distinguish itself from the ever growing crowd of games in the genre.

Like most Call of Duty titles, the game includes a massive arsenal which it shares with the base Modern Warfare game. To help players narrow down the best options for matches, this guide lists the most trusty assault rifles one should use in the massive multiplayer arena.

10 M4AI

Modern Warfare 2019 M4AI

When it comes to general multiplayer, M4AI remains a fan favorite. Players receive it early on in the level progression and it remains a well-balanced gun for most situations.

High destructive capabilities plus manageable recoil make it a reliable choice for most players. Consider slapping on Monolithic Suppressor and Hybrid Sights for increased accuracy, and perhaps even M16 Grenadier for fights requiring more explosive solutions.

9 Grau 5.56

Grau 5.56 is another powerful weapon for all situations. Solid accuracy, range, and rate of fire ensure that the gun will save the player's life several times in a match.

Recoil is decently manageable to start off, and equipping a foregrip further alleviates pushback. The Tempus 24.6" Archangel barrel also increases the guns damage. Even without all these attachments, a naked Grau 5.56 is still a good friend.

8 FAL

More often than in the regular multiplayer suite, enemies will retreat when they sense a losing battle. In cases like this, the FAL is a reliable gun. The semi-automatic firing and pinpoint accuracy ensure any cowardly players running from a fight will take some bullets in the back. It may be dishonorable, but so is fleeing.

Its strengths are also some of its drawbacks, however. Close range combat is riskier with this firearm when compared to other assault rifles.

7 RAM-7

call of duty warzone ram-7 loadout

The RAM-7 carries some formidable stopping power. Without attachments it still boasts an impressive time to kill stat. It's a monster in both medium and close-range engagements and suitable for players who love battling in urban surroundings like Downtown and Promenade.

With different attachments the weapon can be morphed into a reliable close and medium range beast or something more suited for long range encounters.

6 Oden

warzone oden p90 loadout

The Oden has an embarrassingly low rate of fire, but it makes up for it in damage. As long as players land all their shots, the slow-firing weapon can swiftly tear down armored foes. Its accuracy also helps give users a leg up. It may be a required taste, but in the right hands the Oden is a real monster of an assault rifle.

5 AK-47

Warzone AK

AK-47 offers a decent punch with each shot and is quite versatile. Players can turn it into an RPK or SMG and, like most other assault rifles ,subtly adjust its stats with attachments

The rifle still leaves much to be desired, though. In a robust game like the Warzone where most players engage in medium or long range combat, the AK-47 becomes less appealing. Strong recoil also makes it difficult to control

4 FN Scar 17

FN scar 17 modern warfare

The FN Scar 17 feels like a combination of the Oden and AK-47. Its high damage is also a sweet treat. However, unwieldy recoil makes it a pest to use for less experienced players.

The low magazine capacity also makes it a less ideal choice for the average player. FN Scar 17 is usable, but not as well-balanced as some of the other assault rifles on the list.

3 FR 5.56

Players have to select their engagements cautiously when using this three-round burst weapon. Its high ranking and dependability is mostly dependent on the user. At a decent range, two bursts should take out a foe as long as all the bullets hit.

Manageable recoil makes the FR 5.56 a fairly decent option. Not understanding the bust fire mechanic is a surefire way to end up in the Gulag, however.

2 Kilo 141

call of duty modern warfare recoil bug

This rifle is well known for a solid rate of fire. This, combined with manageable recoil, makes it a solid alternative to the more commonly used M4AI.

Attachments make a big difference and can have this underdog shine even brighter. It is well-balanced without any modifiers, so one can adjust the gun in numerous ways to fit their play style.

1 MI3

Golden M13

This weapon feels like the Kilo 141, but with faster handling and higher rate of fire. This makes it more viable in medium range combat. despite the low damage output, the accuracy and the speed at which one aims down the sights more than makes up for this shortcoming. Players who constantly take body shots in place of headshots probably will not get a lot out of this weapon, however.
