Call of Duty: Warzone received its Season 4 Reloaded update today. The update brings some new content to Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War alongside what developer Raven Software is calling the game's biggest balance patch ever.

Weapon balance in Call of Duty: Warzone has consistently been tweaked since the battle royale launched in March last year. Every season adds new weapons to Call of Duty: Warzone and the developers are always tweaking the balancing of guns to make sure that the meta is never stagnant. The newest pass of balance updates, however, is much larger than most balance updates have been in the past.

Raven Software says that the massive update is the studio's first step towards increasing the time-to-kill in Call of Duty: Warzone. As for what the changes look like, they are primarily focused on decreasing the minimum and maximum damage numbers for most weapons. Some guns also have had their recoil increased or have damage multipliers decreased for hitting enemies at certain locations, which Raven Software says is to try and put more of an emphasis on precision in engagements. With the changes it will be very interesting to see how meta builds for guns like Call of Duty: Warzone's RPD are affected.

In the patch notes, Raven Software also says that while the changes to individual guns may seem drastic to some players, all of the changes were balanced together to change the overall landscape of weapons available in Call of Duty: Warzone. The developers also say that the team acknowledges that there will always be a gun that is considered the best in the meta, but that they will work to release balance changes at a rate enough to make sure no gun stays at the top of the meta for too long. The patch comes after Dr. Disrespect, one of the game's most visible players, had some harsh criticism for Call of Duty: Warzone last week.

It will be very interesting to see what shape Call of Duty: Warzone takes now after this massive balance update. The game's meta will undoubtedly be impacted by the changes, and it will be interesting to see how the player base likes the changes. There's a lot of new content also coming to Call of Duty: Warzone in the Season 4 Reloaded update, so now is a great time for old or new players to jump in and see how different the game is.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
