Call of Duty: Warzone recently kicked off Season 3 Reloaded, and the game’s mid-season update is all about 80s Action Heroes. In the special event, locations from classic films are scattered throughout Verdansk, while players can purchase Operator bundles for John McClane and John Rambo. While there is a good mix of content for both action heroes, Rambo has gotten some extra love in the 80s Action Heroes event.

While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be paying tribute to Rambo via an upcoming Gun Game variant, Call of Duty: Warzone does so in a number of ways. From a special new collectible type, to an extra killstreak, there are plenty of Rambo-themed items on offer. With the hero himself playable, as well as two locations inspired by the Rambo films, players can see tons of homages to the franchise when fighting through Verdansk '84.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Rambo Operator Bundle

The biggest attraction of 80s Action Heroes is undoubtedly John Rambo himself, and fans can get his Operator bundle now for 2400 COD Points. However, they may want to do so quick, as the bundle is timed. Rambo can only be purchased until June 18 at 9PM PT. Once that date hits, the John Rambo will no longer be available, meaning that players who want the character will need to buy him sometime in the next few weeks.

As for what can be expected from the Call of Duty: Warzone version of John Rambo, the character takes on Sylvester Stallone’s likeness. Seen clearly in his face, Rambo looks fairly close to his live action inspiration. He boasts the same hairstyle and tan skin of the movie version, with the signature red headband worn as well. Outside of the character being a bit slimmer than one may expect, the John Rambo Operator is a solid recreation. For his voice lines, audio clips are taken from the films, adding to the nostalgia many likely feel when playing as the hero. A funny easter egg sees Rambo yelling when wielding the Death Machine, a great nod to the movies.

With Rambo’s bundle being on the expensive side, players get more than just the character himself. Two bulky blueprints are included in the pack, with red tape seen on the “Bloodstained” AK-47 and “Rambo Classic” M60. The bundle also features “Rambo’s Knife,” a bulkier variant of the combat knife resembling the character’s signature blade. Two finishing moves are seen as well, with one seeing Rambo cut an opponent open and another seeing him land a leaping bow shot. A watch is also included alongside a moving emblem and calling card. An Amulet weapon charm completes the bundle, giving Rambo fans access to plenty of content.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Combat Bow

Call of Duty: Warzone has also received a new killstreak drop, with the Combat Bow directly inspired by the Rambo films. While it may look similar to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War scorestreak of the same name, it fires a completely different projectile. Instead of a shot that sets enemies aflame, the Combat Bow launches explosives at enemies. Effective at a distance or up close, players can use this killstreak effectively if they have good aim. Like other killstreaks in Call of Duty: Warzone, the Combat Bow can be found around the map when players are looting.

While the Combat Bow can take down other players without much issue, players may find themselves needing to land a few shots to fully finish off their targets. As such, it should not be relied on too heavily, with players instead using it as a backup or when they are extremely confident that they can hit their shots. It does decimate vehicles, however, making it a great choice to take out Cargo Trucks in the solo playlist. It should also have no problem bringing down low-flying helicopters, opening opportunities for flashy kills.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Rambo-Inspired Locations

Two hard-to-miss additions are the Verdansk 84 locations that are directly inspired by the Rambo movies. First, there are the Survivor Camps. An excellent nod to Rambo 2, these Camps are completely worn down and haphazardly put together. Spikes can be seen around campfires, while handmade shacks can be seen in the same area. With tons of detail on these 10 buildings, including some leaves for camouflage, they should put a smile on the face of fans whenever they come across them.

The other Rambo-themed area is a CIA Outpost. Found in a hanger at the Military Base, this addition is based around CIA agents tracking down John Rambo. It also adds a special mechanic that fits with this lore, as players can interact with a large map to update their mini-maps. Once done, green circles will be shown all throughout Verdansk 84, with each signifying the position of one of Rambo’s Survival Camps. If players are looking to find each camp, starting here is the best bet, as the CIA Outpost eliminates the need to follow an online guide.

A creative Call of Duty: Warzone fan has even used the area to recreate a scene from the second film. In the recreated Rambo 2 scene, a player shoots all the CIA equipment with an LMG, destroying the base completely. For those that want to do the same, heading to the Northern part of Verdansk is all that has to be done.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Rambo Dog Tags

Finally, a new Rambo-themed collectible has been added has been added for 80s Action Heroes. While the Survival Camps offer decent loot, the main reason players may want to track them down is for the Rambo Dog Tags. These items are used to claim extra Rewards at the CIA Outpost, giving them an in-game benefit. On top of this, collecting enough of them will allow players to make progress on the 80s Action Heroes event challenges.

While there are 10 different camps that can be accessed, each of the Tags work on a “first come, first serve” system. This means that Call of Duty: Warzone fans will need to hit the locations fast if they want to claim the Dog Tags, as other players may be trying to do the same. Regardless, this complex collectable system is a fun addition to the game. While it may not be as obvious as the other Rambo-themed items, it shows just how much thought went into making the crossover stand out.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
