It's nearly that time of the year again, a new Call of Duty is right around the corner. Unlike the last few years, there's a palpable amount of excitement in the air surrounding this year's entry. A sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare, fans are hoping that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 can once again breathe new life into the military shooter franchise, both in terms of yearly CoD releases and its Warzone battle royale spin-off. Using Modern Warfare 2's updated engine as a base, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is set to release just a few weeks after the mainline entry, giving fans plenty of time to prepare.

The first Call of Duty: Warzone released around five months after Modern Warfare, which ensured that anyone who had been playing Modern Warfare since release already had an arsenal full of upgraded, decked-out weapons. While it's a much shorter period this time round, fans will still have the best part of three weeks to ensure that they're ready for Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and everything it has in store.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0's Release Date Gives Fans Time To Prepare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases on October 28, 2022, and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 drops on November 16, 2022. This gives fans a total of 19 days to get fully prepared for the battle royale's first Season. There's quite a bit for fans to wrap their heads around this time, as Modern Warfare 2 introduces a handful of new mechanics, all of which will also play a large part in Warzone 2.0. Early adopters of Modern Warfare 2 will be able to test out the new swimming mechanics, the new ledge hang ability, and the new boat and tank vehicles before their implementation in Warzone. It shouldn't take too long for new players to get to grips with these new mechanics and features, but early adopters will certainly have an edge over anyone jumping into Warzone 2.0 for the first time on November 16.

Similarly, those that pick up Modern Warfare 2 on release will also be able to spend time with the game's range of new gadgets, some of which could prove extremely useful in Warzone 2.0's setting. For instance, the Inflatable Decoy gadget is ideal for distracting enemy players and luring them out of their own cover, and the Drill Charge is a piece of lethal equipment that propels grenades through walls and ceilings, making it a camper's worst nightmare.

Of course, the real draw of jumping into Modern Warfare 2 early is that players will be able to level up their loadouts in time for Warzone 2.0's release. Early adopters will be able to find the weapons that they're most comfortable with, level them up as much as possible, and upgrade them through the new, streamlined Gunsmith 2.0 system, all before Warzone 2.0 releases. When it's finally time to drop into Warzone 2.0's Al Mazrah, those early players will already have a slew of fully decked-out loadouts ready to go.

Though, it should be noted that Warzone 2.0 is removing loadout drops from the game, so players will need to ensure that they're well-versed with every weapon in Modern Warfare 2. Players will be able to unlock specific weapons and attachments either from the Enhanced Shop, or by defeating Warzone 2.0's new Stronghold bases, packed with challenging AI.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 launches on November 16 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
