Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is one week away from launch, and now Activision has shared more specific timing for its release. Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is the sequel to the immensely popular Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale game, and like its predecessor, it will be a free-to-play experience.

With Call of Duty: Warzone 2 set to launch next week, some may be curious about what will happen with the existing Call of Duty: Warzone game and its Caldera map. Unlike how Overwatch 2 completely replaced the Overwatch 1 file, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and the original Call of Duty: Warzone will co-exist in a way, as the Caldera map will still be accessible after the sequel launches, though fans will have to wait for some time after November 16 to get their hands on it again.

Come November 16, Call of Duty: Warzone servers will go offline at around 8am PT. There will then be about two hours of downtime, and the plan is to bring the servers back online as Call of Duty: Warzone 2 at 10am PT to coincide with the launch of Modern Warfare 2 Season 1. The original Warzone will then return as Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera at approximately 10am PT on November 28. Anyone that has played the original Warzone will be getting some items to celebrate the launch of Warzone 2, though specifics are unavailable at the time of this writing.

Warzone Caldera will be where players can access the content they unlocked or purchased in the original Warzone, the 2019 Modern Warfare game, Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard. Substantial new content is not expected to be released for Warzone Caldera, and players will not be able to transfer content between the games. There will not be an in-game store for Caldera either, for reasons that are currently unknown.

A big downside to this relaunch is that the fan favorite Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep maps, which are both smaller in scale than the typical Warzone map, are being removed. Activision has teased that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will add small maps in future seasons, but fans of Rebirth Island will definitely want to make sure they play it as much as possible between now and November 16 as it may be gone for good.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 launches November 16 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
