Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be launching with only one map, but the game could be getting an additional map for players to battle it out on at some point next year. The original Call of Duty: Warzone launched with the Verdansk battle royale map, but it eventually expanded its horizons by adding smaller-scale maps like Rebirth Island. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be launching with a brand-new map called Al Mazrah when it releases on November 16.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0's Al Mazrah map looks like it will provide plenty of variety for battle royale fans. The large-scale map is huge, with intriguing points of interest, some of which are callbacks to classic Call of Duty multiplayer maps. Fans will get the chance to explore Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0's Al Mazrah map for themselves on November 16, but next year, they may have another map to explore as well.

According to leaker TheGhostofHope, Activision studios Beenox and Toys for Bob are making a new map for Call of Duty: Warzone 2 that will launch at some point in "mid 2023." Raven Software and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward are also said to be assisting on the project, with IW "leading the narrative" and Raven "consulting on gameplay ideas." Fans should take this information with a big grain of salt for now, but it does seem likely that the new Warzone will add fresh, smaller-scale maps eventually.

Rebirth Island was a small map added to the original Call of Duty: Warzone and it proved to be quite popular with fans. The small size of Rebirth Island meant that matches were faster-paced, cutting down significantly on the time players would spend looting and running from point A to point B in Verdansk. It goes without saying that some Call of Duty BR fans will want a similar experience with Warzone 2.0, but fans will have to hang tight for more details.

As for the main Al Mazrah map in Call of Duty: Warzone 2, fans will actually get a sneak preview of it sooner rather than later. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Ground War maps are actually based on the new Warzone map, with locations pulled directly from the BR. While it won't be exactly the same as the BR experience, this should still let Call of Duty players practice for Warzone 2 by playing the standard multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 launches on November 16 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
