Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 co-developer Beenox reveals a new setting that will make flashbang grenades a little bit easier on the player's eyes. The minor but much-requested feature is part of the patch releasing on March 15, as part of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2's Season 2 Reloaded.

Activision subsidiary Beenox is known mainly for PC ports and assisting other studios such as Call of Duty developers Raven, Treyarch, and Infinity Ward. Its recent work includes the remaster of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign and assisting with the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 remaster, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, and Raven and Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It was also one of several studios to assist with Infinity Ward's new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, from which Call of Duty: Warzone 2 spun off.

Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 fans have been complaining about the game's flashbang grenades for a while now. While they're meant to blind the player in the game temporarily, the bright white flash has been enough to cause real-world discomfort for anyone who happens to be playing in a dark room. Some fans will thus be relieved to learn that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2's Season 2 Reloaded introduces a new "Inverted Flash" setting, which addresses the problem when enabled from the games interface menu.

Beenox showed how the setting works in a short video shared on Twitter. The clip shows a Modern Warfare 2 player enabling Inverted Flash and throwing a flashbang grenade at their feet. Usually, this would turn the screen completely white for a second before fading back in. Instead, the inverted flash setting makes the screen go completely black. It then fades in part of the way before switching to a white effect until the flashbang wears off completely. This should prevent the in-game weapon from blinding players in real life, as long as they remember to turn it on.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 are not the first games to feature something like this, with Battlefield 2042 offering the same thing as one of its accessibility options. Some Warzone 2 players have also been asking for this feature for some time. While it's unclear if Raven Software and Beenox noticed these requests, many fans on Twitter seemed pleased with the decision. No doubt their eyeballs will also be quite happy with the change.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
